Correct me if I am wrong but Bernie (however old and senile he is getting - sorry, please don't sue me if you are reading this  ) said last year that Kimi, as world champion did nothing to promote the sport, over the off season.

Has Hamilton??

I did not really think Hamilton has a personality that he show, he is just a PR quote machine.

We at <insert team name> would like to thank <insert engine manufacturer> and <insert title sponsor> for doing a good job <insert event>. <insert tyre make> also did a really good job. Plus I would like to thank all the people back in <insert teams home town>.

See I could be an F1 driver

Kimi's damn right. The guy is down to earth. I mean, wouldn't you rather go drinking with your mates, rather than signing autographs at sponsorship gigs.

About a week ago I saw a big intense picture of hamiliton outside a watch store. Truly, hes become a pure marketing figure. All the sponsors are taking full advantage of their contracts right now. I don't know if Hamiliton has a choice in the matter, but I know what I'd being doing if I had a choice.

I'm not directly disagreeing with you, but sponsors, fans, media etc. basically pay the drivers' enormous wages and allow Formula One to function. Therefore, I think it's only right that Formula One drivers and teams do sponsorship functions etc. One of my biggest grips about modern sport - and Formula One is one of the worst offenders - is that the fans are almost completely ignored.

I think the question is, what does any world champion do that he is not contractually obliged to do is what you should look at?
