What i dont get is why other teams dont follow ferrari and toyota in going to Bahrain. Ferrari have doinated the last 2 races there and while the Jerez circuit is a good one, there is no race there so the pace the cars show is not really relavent.

The Red Bull was fastest first time out. Now thats promising no matter what way you look at it.

On the other hand, I'm thinking Renault may have gotten things completely wrong this year. Aside from the car looking awful, they look slow as well. Either that, or Piquet is gonna be worse than last year.

I've come to the conclusion that Renault must have put that nose on to hide their real one to throw others off... Surely there is no way that one can be anywhere near as aerodynamically effective as the others!?

I will not be surprised if Renault have a completely different nose for Melbourne. And like you said, there is no way that it could possibly be aerodynamically efficient. The only way I could see it being an advantage is to get some more weight at the front. But still, that's what lead weights are for.

Good times from Hulkenberg today, he seems to have stepped up the pace and was just 3 tenths of Vettel on apparently a similar 10 lap stint to Vettel when he posted his best time. The FW31 is running very reliably and it was also carrying an inactive KERS device.

But I'm not going to jump the gun yet, there's still a long long way to go until the first race of the season.
