Former F1 driver seeks top office

Another type of race for Reutemann in his homeland

Carlos Reutemann, a winner of 12 Grand Prix, most recently in 1981, says he will run for the presidency of Argentina at the next election in 2011, according to the Buenos Aires Herald.

A veteran of 146 Grand Prix, for teams including Ferrari and Williams, the now 66-year-old subsequently turned to politics in his native country, where he has been a senator and governor of his local province Santa Fe.

I did some reading about Reutemann's political career. It's slightly strange. There seems to have been a lot of complaining about his policies, but he still seems to be popular with the people.

"Don't cry for me Argentina." :P

If Reutemann does get elected, does anybody think he'll try and get the Argentine GP back on the calendar?

Carlos is one of those drivers who should have been a champion.

And yes, he'll probably try.
When I first seen the article title, I thought he was going to run against Max in the FIA. Argentina doesn't need him
