Singapore Grand Prix organisers are planning to make a few alterations to the street circuit for year's race.
The race around the streets of the Marina Bay made history in September when it hosted Formula One's first-ever night race to much fanfare.
However, the race GP didn't live up to all the expectations and almost turned into a procession with very little overtaking. Nelson Piquet Jr's accident on lap 13 turned into a bit of a saving grace. A Safety Car was introduced as a result of the accident and Piquet's Renault team-mate Fernando Alonso went on to win the race.
Organisers are now set to widen parts of the circuit so that there can be more overtaking.
"Turns one, two and three - the chicane area - could be modified to open it up a little bit more," Teo Hock Seng, the event chairman, is quoted by Crash.Net.
"And perhaps Stamford corner could be extended so that there is a little bit more access for overtaking."
Two further sections - at St Andrews Road and turn 22 - could see greater run-off areas which will hopefully tempt the drivers into overtaking manoeuvres.
The chances can't hurt, I suppose, but there is only so much you can do with a street circuit. Further, I'm surprised they didn't say anything about the pit entrance. It needs looked at more than anything.
