For me, Kubica was excellent for almost all of the season. Alonso acted unprofessionally for the first half of the season, refusing to turn up for post-race debriefings, going in the huff etc. The Times' readers don't have a clue.

Kubica would get my vote. he only failed to finish in the points a handful of times this season. Alonso has been superb. Renault have deffinatly benifitted from his input this season. But he took a few desperate mistakes. For example in Monoco, he could of got a better result instead of going for the win. But then again thats a good sign because it shows hes hungry and he got hes just rewards in singapore and japan. Massa has had a stong season and looked solid, but let down by the car on so many occasions. Kimi was poor. Lewis hamilton has had some stunning races in germany and GB but not consistantly performed.

Kubica has performed well but how can you disregard Alonso's performance in the latter half of the season? He is in a Renault the 4th/5th best car on the grid and still managed two race victories. That trumps Kubica in my book.

In the same vein, I'd say SV deserves at least an honorable mention. Winning Monza in a Toro Rosso formerly Minardi? C'mon, that was stellar. Once he'll find himself in a truly competitive car, he'll be driving circles around everybody...

I dunno, I'm not sure how objective an online poll on the Times website is. If you look at the comments on the articles the Times Online site seems to attract a large ammount of Alonso trolls on a regular basis.

I don't think it's that far off the mark though, although I personally think Kubica edges it on consistency throughout the season.

I wish they kept the Minardi name.

I would be so happy if they won with that name. With Toro Rosso, I was happy for Vettel, but "meh" for Toro Rosso.

But I won't argue that Alonso is best driver, I've been saying that for sometime, but I would vote for Kubica myself.

How they hell did this happened?? The British Time took a vote and the people of Britain voted Alonso as the best F1 driver beating LH by ten votes. Massa was third, followed by Robert, Heikki was 12 and they othe two Brits?? Jenson 17th and David 19th. Damn Brits are tough on their drivers.
