The Chinese Grand Prix will become the third round of the 2009 world championship under the latest version of next season's Formula One calendar.

An amended schedule was agreed at a meeting of the World Motor Sport Council in Paris today.

The Shanghai race moves from its previous October date to 19 April, with the Bahrain Grand Prix consequently moving back one week.

The alteration allows the championship to finish earlier, as the Brazil and Abu Dhabi races have now been moved forward by a fortnight, with the latter now scheduled for 1 November.

Despite talks between Montreal officials and Bernie Ecclestone, it appears there has been no progress regarding the future of the Canadian Grand Prix, so the calendar remains at 17 races.

I calendar looks alright apart from no Canada and France but I think Brazil should be the seasons final. Also why has China been moved to April it was fine where it was because it was nice having that track near the end of the season.

It made sence to have Japan, singapore and china next to each other??? what genius figured out this calender

Yea, I don't get it.

Japan and China should, logistically, be together, but Singapore is a fair hike from there. It would be much better round about the time of Malaysia.

I still think its a huge shame to lose Canada. It's a great place to go and watch as you can sit fairly close to the track, it's a brilliant party town, the locals love F1, tickets are usually sold out, etc. China is just soulless by comparison.

I agree, but why go back and forth, go in logical order. From far east to west or vice versa.

Looking at the original post, I don't see where they can squeeze Canada in.

Well, they were paying their fees for the majority of that time with no problems, so you can see why.

Well at least we can get the current worst F1 track out of the way, but it's got pretty "good company" with it in the form of Malaysia and Bahrain which are also Tilke creations which makes a bit of a sour looking trio of races.

Speaking of Malaysia, it's almost 10 years already since the very first race there!!

Yea, but you also had US in there for a while too. And the rest of the races were spaced out better to fit in North America.
