The Kid did well.
On Merits of the final race alone he deserved the championship. he did everything he could in the race but it wasnt to be... I guess thats the way the cookie crumbles.

Anyone who didnt feel sorry for him standing up on the podium like a plum blubbering has got to be a cold person. (I almost cried myself).

So leave a comment of commiserations for a good strong season and wish him good luck for next year :(. (PS - Congratulations Lewis Hamilton!)

I think Massa did well, but not quite well enough. I think that the Ferrari was a championship winning car, and a slightly better driver such as a properly on form Raikkonen or a peak era Schumacher would have won the championship.

But Massa improved considerably, and this may bode well for next year. Unlike others, I'm not convinced that Kimi will be back on form next year, I consider his level of motivation unproved.

massa deserved the title ... lots of if only's - sipn at sepang, engine failure at hungaroring, and the ridiculous pit stop at singapore ..... i guess it was the singapore one that hurts most, cuz that day massa was literally on fire .... if ferrari hadnt gone and f***ed up his pitstop, who knows .....
congos to hamilton btw :)

As much as I feel Massa should be grateful he was still in the title race until the last round of the season, I do think he seems a decent guy and it must have been painful for he and his family to think the championship was won and have that feeling taken away from them. So, in the end, I think the right guy won the title, but I do feel for Massa. He's had a good season even though he didn't win the title. He has improved leaps and bounds as a driver, so deserves a lot of praise for that.

Nobody, nowhere that I've seen, is saying that Massa couldn't win a championship. Some years ago some people did claim that. So he's clearly risen in everyone's estimation.

I don't think we should feel sorry for Massa at all. In fact I'm very impressed by his achievements this year. He beat his teammate and helped Ferrari get the WCC. He did exactly what he was supposed to in Brasil, not bad at all.

I'd like to see him win a race from somewhere other than pole though.

He certainly gained more of my respect following the manner in which he took to the podium and the press conference after the race.

I agree. It can't have been easy for him. He handled the matter with grace and dignity. It's a pity the Tifosi can't do the same.

Felipe is a great guy. He would have been world champion if Ferrari hadn't lost him 20 points with engine failure in Hungary and the pit stop incident in Singapore :banghead:

Hopefully next year he will CRUSH Kimi and be challenging for the championship. Hopefully Ferrari won't make the same mistakes again either.

It was shame for him, he was very gracious.

The race he ran was superb in a tense situation, unfortunately one race doesn't make a season.

I look forward to next years cars and how the races will pan out. can but hope Massa and Hamilton get to stuff each other up again!

I'm all for racing :wavey:

I definitely felt sorry for Massa yesterday. He did all that he could do, but ultimately it wasn't enough. The right man undoubtedly won the title, but all of the nonsense that's gone on this season was not Massa's personal fault.

He's a nice guy, and in the face of people saying he wasn't worthy of his seat, would never be a contender, couldn't keep it up for a whole season (including after the first two races of this season), he has just knuckled down and got on with it, letting his (excellent) driving do the talking.

I believe he's successfully shut up a lot of his critics, and has now shown that he can lose well in addition to winning.

He's still relatively young, hopefully he can take at least one WDC in the future.

I'll fully admit that I used to be one of those that didn't think he had what it takes to be a top level F1 driver.... and I'll fully admit that I was wrong.
