I thought Obama is a Christian? In terms of American politics, I'd either be slightly on the right of the Democratic party or on the left of the Republican party. From the two candidates, Obama and McCain both have some appeal. The biggest thing that worries me, however, is that McCain is old and his health has not been the best in recent times. In that situation, you need a capable running mate. Take Obama. He wisely chose Biden. I don't agree with a lot of what Biden has to say, but respect his views, for they articulately and intelligently put across and he's experienced. If anything happened to Obama, he would be a safe pair of hands to run the country. If something were to happen to McCain, Palin would take over, and that is one of the scariest thoughts in political history.

He is definitely christian. His mom was atheist. He grew up partly in Indonesia where he went to school - that fact and old pictures from Indonesia (plus the fact his middle name is Hussein) the republicans took and ran with it to spread the rumor he's muslim - even IF he was, wtf does it matter?:banghead:

It matter in some parts of America. They will elect a black guy, a retarded texan or even Sarah Palin. But post 9/11 never a muslim.

HONOLULU – Barack Obama's grandmother, whose personality and bearing shaped much of the life of the Democratic presidential contender, has died, Obama announced Monday, one day before the election. Madelyn Payne Dunham was 86. Obama announced the news from the campaign trail in Charlotte, N.C. The joint statement with his sister Maya Soetoro-Ng said Dunham died peacefully late Sunday night after a battle with cancer.

They said: "She was the cornerstone of our family, and a woman of extraordinary accomplishment, strength, and humility. She was the person who encouraged and allowed us to take chances."

Obama learned of her death Monday morning while he was campaigning in Jacksonville, Fla. He planned to go ahead with campaign appearances. The family said a private ceremony would be held later.

Republican John McCain issued condolences to his opponent. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to them as they remember and celebrate the life of someone who had such a profound impact in their lives," the statement by John and Cindy McCain said.

Last month, Obama took a break from campaigning and flew to Hawaii to be with Dunham as her health declined

Sad news. It's tragic that she didn't live to see her grandson very likely becoming president.

Big bummer - yes. Just saw the news - seems like he's holding up quite alright on today's rallies. That's what it means to be president: you have to put your own issues aside and be there for the good of the entire nation.
