Hello folks, I've been away for a few weeks and now have tons to catch up on, so don't have much time at the moment. Sorry if I am repeating anything anyone else has said already.
I get really cheesed off by 'celebrities' (attention seeking talentless morons many of them) on the grid just before a race, most of them know little about F1 and are only there because they are famous. What is worse is that Martin Brundle seems compelled to interview some of these lame brains during his pit walk, when he could be interviewing proper people. I suspect that he is told to interview the plebs because of their glamour/ celebrity value. Bollocks is what I say. Anyway, did you see Martin get hijacked at Singapore by some crass American woman who was from a Renault sponsor (ING?), anyway, she grabbed Martin and forced a discussion with him and asked him what he thought of "our logo in the dark?" I assumed that she was talking about the sponsors logo rather than the Renault one.
Martin was his usual brilliant self and he broke away from the stupid cow and called out over his shoulder "it looks the same as it does during the day" - Excellent but morons like this should not be on the track or in the pits should they? I think that the drivers must find this the hardest part of the job - entertaining such people and keep a smile on their face.

Hah, that was amusing, much like it is whenever he has to speak to some celebrity he doesn't like. I don't mind a very small number of them - Quentin Tarantino was quite good a) because he's a legend and b) because he's absolutely nuts, but who cares about idiots like Davina McCall, or the Beckhams!

When Martin interviews people who have nothing to do with F1 then that annoys me but when he interviews ex drivers then that can be quite interesting.

I agree - anyone in the business, even in a minor way is fair game and can have something interesting to say. I like some musicians / singers but I don't want to see them on the grid fumbling for something useful to say. Have you noticed that they usually only talk about themselves anyway?

Gawd, I hate ING. They have to be the most irritating bunch of sponsors ever. How does your logo look in the dark! s***, just like it does in the day.

Honestly, anyone taken their ING F1 survey. They know bugger all about F1, yet they pretend of think they actually do.

I opened up an ING account 2 years ago so I could get a free £10 as one of my friends had referred me, but their newsletter is pretty corny and they obviously know nothing about F1. Their livery makes the Renault look more like a bowl of ice cream with orange and lemon jelly.

Some of the celebreties that he interviews are actually nice to listen to. Clapton at Bahrain, for example, because he seemed genuinely interested in the sport. Others, like the lass from the Pussycat Dolls, are not so interesting.

Welcome back, Martin. :wavey:

As for Brundle's "grid walk", it's a complete waste of time. Like others, I'm not interested in celebrities whatsoever. What I want to hear is feedback from drivers and engineers about the track conditions, plans for the race, etc., not the comments of some bimbo or drug-dealing, free-loading rapper.

Yes, it's on the grid walk where Coulthard's girlfriend and Lenny Kravitz have been more use in the past few years interviewing the drivers and team bosses or technical directors. Or even ex drivers like Riccardo Patrese when Louise caught up with him in Bahrain.
