Coulthard irks me sometimes, but most of the time I like him. He's certainly got the experience to make a good pundit and I like his straight-talking, funny comments. To be honest, I think punditry is a bit of a comedown for Coulthard. He's not as fast he used to be, granted, but he's got a lot more to offer to motorsport than commentating. Brundle has also got a bit of gob, so I'm a little surprised the BBC - arguably the most politically correct organisation in Britain - give them the gig. Thankfully James Allen is being given the boot. I can't stand that odious man.

Meh, look at the Top Gear presenters, and that's one of the BBC's biggest hauls! :P

If you remember Leah Mckensie she did present the olf F3000 championship on ITV in its later years.
Her dad is Bob Mckensie - infamous for having to run around the silverstone track naked after claiming Mclaren would never win a race in 2004.

He was also on the grid yesterday when he got in the way of Brundle.
Martin said "oh look its Bob Mckensie from the Daily Depress - always getting in the way of my gridwalks" :hehe:

I have a funny feeling that the switch to BBC isn't gonna be that good. Less spending and filming from the London studio :yikes: . I would rather have Rider speaking from the grand prix than "Jake Humphrey" in London

I dunno, DC said he'll be in Melbourne next year, so how can he be in London at the same time :S
Surely the BBC will send the entire team to the races. If not that is just cheap crap. We pay our licence fee for rubbish like that.

I don't know how to feel about this. I have only ever watched F1 on ITV and so have got used to its coverage no matter how poor others say it is i do not know for sure as i have nothing to compare it to. I am glad Brundle is making the switch but I feel sorry for Ted Kravitz, Louise Goodman and James Allen. All three are passionate F1 fans and knowledgeable about the sport. James Allen is always criticized but I think most of it's unfair and probably down to the fact many fans are so biased towards their team/driver and so cannot stand it when he says anything negative about them. Ted and Louise are good workers as well and I hope they can still continue to work in the sport.

BBC are cutting costs all over the place and so I wouldn't be surprised if they do not fly Jake Humphrey out to the locations and stick him in the Match of the Day studio to chat with DC. That would be terrible and shows that the BBC are not really interested in F1 and only want something to fill the schedule now that they have lost the football to ITV.

Most people here hate the ITV coverage but I have a feeling in a year that you would miss the days when we can't hear steve rider and mark blundell as they decide to stand in front of the Mclaren garage or when they idolize Lewis Hamilton completely neglecting the great performances of other drivers. You might even miss the commentary of James Allen :hehe:

I am glad that Brundle is going to be there and Coulthard but I'm not sure about Jake Humphreys but we will have to wait and see.

Fantastic about Brundle! Not so Coulthard :( He is too opinionated and holds grudges against racers who bettered him (That gives him quite a lot of scope :rofl::rofl: ) I think he's too close to finishing racing himself and will be unable to mask his dislike/jealousy of certain drivers.
But hes in, so we'll see how it goes, maybe my opinion of him will soften, doubt it though, I have a long memory!

I'm in the same boat, I don't have a problem with any of the current commentators; the only thing about ITV is the breaks. Everyone goes on about James Allen but I think he's fine, if not a bit predictable: 'thanks Steve, HELLO EVERYBODY.' 'Felipe Massa wins the ... grand prix.' 'LEWIS HAMILTON WINS THE ... GRAND PRIX.'

Glad that Brundle's coming over though, he's always great value.

Well I guess Coulthard should be grateful that Montoya's not in F1 anymore. :P
