We've all seen the incident, we all have views. I'm interested in seeing what the balance of opinion is on the forum, but I'd urge people to be as objective as possible without regard to their own personal loyalties.

It was never a penalty in a million years. Whenever Schumacher, for instance, I thought nothing of it.

I voted no. Hamilton clearly gained an advantage for cuttting that corner but Kimi crashed so I dont think Hamilton should've been penalised.

Im a Ferrari fan here, and I voted no. I do think Hamilton gained an advantage, but there shouldnt have been a penalty, maybe a warning or maybe a fine if anything.

I'm a Raikkonen supporter, so I guess you can put me down as a Ferrari lamb I also really dislike Hamilton. However, I think the penalty was completely unfair and unjustified. I think it will be interesting to see whether McLaren's appeal will see the decision overturned or not...I'm about 50/50 on how successful it will be.

Allthough I don't like Hamilton that much, I believe that he won by merit . The stewards should be thrown out

I mean come on, he won over crappy Kimi and Hamilton proved to have the nerves of steel.

Unbelievable. Ferrari again benefit from a dubious decision handed down 2 1/2 hours after the race finished. Hamilton cut the chicane ok but he gave the place back to Raikonnen before they crossed the start finish line. After that Raikonnen was fair game and he didn't pass him until Raikonnen went deep into La Source.

Hamilton drove a stormer catching Raikonnen in the last stint and clearly had the better car at the end of the race. He was also the better driver by far, handling conditions which forced the current world champion off the circuit.

The FIA have had it in for Mclaren for years and now they've proved how biased they are towards the Itallian team. What's the point of racing if you're just going to have a deserved victory taken away from you by the Authorities. Make the decision immediately and make the penalty stick. Even if it was a drive through he'd still have won it in the pit lane.

I love F1 but if these idiots are going to ruin the best last few laps of a grand prix for years then I may just need to go and find another series to watch.

He wouldn't have gotten a drive-through, though, because it was within a couple of laps of the race finish. So if he had been penalised there and then, it still would have been a twenty five second penalty, which would have made little difference. And it would still have been unjust. :/

True. A 10 place grid drop would have been harsh but better than taking the win away for an incident two laps from the end.
They should still have let the win stand as quite honestly, they were the only two drivers in the race today.

I watched the race and to be honest the race was boring until the rain started to fall, and the last four laps of the race was the best in a long time. All Lewis done was to out think his rival and which is raw talent in any other job you would have been reward for this not penalized for thinking outside the box.

According to various reports, Ferrari did not lodge any protest, but spoke their side of the events when called to the stewards' room. That said, Domenicali seems to have accepted the result and claimed it to be important to the team.

What a disgraceful decision. There was nothing whatsoever wrong with what happened - Lewis simply had nowhere to go and immediately gave back the place. Recent events clearly show there is one rule for Ferrari and another for McLaren.
Typical of Ferrari to go running to the stewards who predictably, caved in.
So to get this straight, if Lewis allegedly cuts the chicane (France) and doesn't give back the place, he gets a drive thru penalty and if he cuts the chicane because Kimi squeezes him out (Spa) and does give back the place, he still gets penalised!! What a way to run a series.
If this injustice is not resolved and Lewis reinstated (and hopefully, the stewards sacked) I for one will not continue to watch a "sport" that will have become a cheater's paradise.
To their credit, I have seen loads of Ferrari fans who have said this was a very bad and unjust decision. McLaren should not have to bring this to court but I trust they will prevail.

But they didn't...at least not according to Domenicali. They lodged no protest against Hamilton and only spoke to the stewards because they were asked to give their side of the story.

I totally agree with the sentiments of Bigpip and Denthul. Once again the stewards are trying to change the outcome of a race by manipulating the rules to suit Ferrari. Do they want anyone to watch this "sport" or not? Most F1 races are boring these days, and I've been watching since the 60's, when motor racing was motor racing and something like this was classed as a racing incident. Lewis won fair and square because he coped better with the conditions than Kimi, who put his car into the wall. It's time for supporters of F1 to boycott viewing F1 until the biases that exist within the sport are rectified. This might bring them to their senses.
