Para los aficionados mclarenistas y Sennistas.............

What the letter says is very true. Senna was an absolute genius who was adored by many people around the world and was loved at McLaren. Ron Dennis was a little bit disappointed that Senna left the team, not just because he was a sensational driver, but because McLaren and Senna achieved a hell of a lot together and developed a close relationship. Dennis, I think, genuinely believed he would return to the team, but I was never so sure about that. Ultimately, business talks - there were numerous negotiations between Senna and Dennis at McLaren - and the team could not deliver the goods that Senna's talent deserved, so he left for Williams. That was the type of person Senna was - and he was always open about it - so I've got no hard feelings. As a McLaren fan, it was sad to see him leave the team, but as a Senna fan I also wanted what was best for him. McLaren for the constructors' title and Senna for the drivers' title! Thanks for posting the letter, AKR. It was nice to read something so rare.

A pleasure :). You and Bud were the first people I thought of and knew would like this from the moment upon coming across the letter. :)

I've seen the letter before somewhere. I reckon Senna might have stayed on if McLaren went with the powerful Lamborghini V12 that they tested out at the same time as the weedy Pegeout V10, Hakkinen set much faster times with the Lambo in the back of the car if I remember rightly.

Pure fluke. Did a search on Ron Dennis in Google Images (Don't ask me why) and as I was flicking through page by page I saw the letter. I clicked on it and made it bigger and I just said "WOW". It is amazing what you can find or do when you don't mean it. I am also glad you and the other McLaren supporters enjoyed reading it as you were all the first people that came across my mind when I saw it. :)

thank you so much for this letter, it makes me think what it would have been like watching F1 back then.

It was great. There was something about F1 then that is missing now. Ferrari wasn't winning which perhaps is the reason why I liked it. It gave me a dream that one day they would win and I loved watching those F1 races from then. I have to admit when Micheal Schumacher started always winning it did start getting a bit boring and then I had no more dreams as my team kept always winning. So yeah the days of Senna, Mansell, Prost, Patrese, Berger, Piquet just to name a few were aworsome.
