Ron Dennis was a little bit disappointed that Senna left the team, not just because he was a sensational driver, but because McLaren and Senna achieved a hell of a lot together and developed a close relationship. Dennis, I think, genuinely believed he would return to the team, but I was never so sure about that. Ultimately, business talks - there were numerous negotiations between Senna and Dennis at McLaren - and the team could not deliver the goods that Senna's talent deserved, so he left for Williams. That was the type of person Senna was - and he was always open about it - so I've got no hard feelings. As a McLaren fan, it was sad to see him leave the team, but as a Senna fan I also wanted what was best for him. McLaren for the constructors' title and Senna for the drivers' title! Thanks for posting the letter, AKR. It was nice to read something so rare.
