Ok with Force India talking engine changes, what Customer engines would you aquire...

Honda?
Ferrari?

Im surprised no one has mercedes yet..

im more surprised there isnt more manufacturers suppling engines to priveteers, surely that would be the better option because it would offer more freedom from the racing manufaturers. maybe with budget caps we will see this happen.

Force India may be considering a change of customer engine supplier for the 2009 season, according to reports.

The Silverstone-based team, having changed ownership prior to the start of this season, is currently powered by Ferrari's 2.4 litre V8s.

But according to the Swiss publication Motorsport Aktuell, meetings may already have taken place - in the Montreal paddock earlier this month - between Force India and Honda chiefs.

Force India is contractually bound to the Ferrari deal, but it is suggested that the Vijay Mallya-owned squad is interested in Honda's offer of engines plus its KERS system at a lower price.

Rumours have abounded since the collapse of the Honda satellite Super Aguri this year that Honda is still keen to expand its F1 presence beyond the Brackley based works team.

Motorsport Aktuell claims that Honda is offering its engine-KERS package to Force India for a price 10 million Euros per season lower than the Ferrari deal, as long as Takuma Sato is accommodated for a race seat.

Force India has reportedly not yet taken a decision.

I would stay with Ferrari engine's if it was my decision.

I dont really see the point, in F1 all the engines are the same they have maxed it out and there is nothing in it, i hope they dont expect to fight for points after the switch.

I would tend to agree with you except for the fact that the engine's are rpm limited. If they were not I would guess that there are probably another 3-5K rpm's left to play with dont you think?

3-5k more? Before they were limited they were just reaching 20k and that was with the V10s so I don't think it'd be as much as that. Also, even with all the limitations in place there's probably some differences from manufacturer to munufacturer such as reliability, fuel consumption, power characteristics through the revs, weight and probably a lot more things on a more technical level.

Or even better, bring back Subaru's out-of-date flat 12 they tried when they bought out Coloni in 1990 before spitting them back out. :P

Maybe not but reciprocating mass play's a huge factor in the equation.
