McLaren have been moved back up to the middle of the pitlane for the Monaco Grand Prix, following their relegation down to the bottom end for the last three races.

The Woking-based team had started the season in the fifth slot between Williams and Red Bull Racing, but were informed prior to the Bahrain Grand Prix that they would be moved to the last position - after alleged complaints from rival teams.

Although it was expected that they would remain there for the rest of the season, the pitlane allocation for Monaco has seen them return to the slot between Williams and Red Bull Racing.

No reason has been specified.

McLaren, whose motorhome remains at the bottom of the paddock, were unconcerned about being at the bottom of the pitlane – especially because it gave them an advantage in getting a clear exit from the pits after refuelling stops.

"Technically, it's an advantage as far as we can see and where we are in the pit lane doesn't affect the races," team boss Ron Dennis said in Bahrain. "If there is an outcome, it will be positive not negative.

"Obviously some of the other facilities are not as good as here in Bahrain, it can be a bit of a squeeze, but we're very resilient to this sort of thing."

Here we go again... McLaren have been moved up and down the pit lane more times than the knickers of Mosley's prostitutes moved up and down! This is disrupting the team and it's making the sport's image look bad. Can the FIA not make a rule and stick to it? A firm decision one way or the other is needed.

They've been promoted and relegated in the pitlane more times than West Bromwich Albion in the past 10 years!

Will this madness ever end?

its things like this that are so simple but apparently they are not, f1 needs a management overhaul

its no wonder people dont watch, ad 'confusing' and 'inconsistent' to the 'boring' reason

This is just getting ridiculous. Either they should be last or they shouldn't.

I rather suspect this is Bernie's opening salvo against Max.

Bernie let Max have his fight with Ron Dennis, now it's getting out of hand Bernie is stepping in...

I think Max under estimated Ron Dennis when he went after him over Spygate, Ron Dennis has hit back with a lovely blow and Bernie has blown the whistle.

Ron won, Max lost, it's been interesting to see them trade blows for the last 10 years but enough is enough...

This is a real joke

Formula One needs closure from the spy scandal. We had a fantastic race in Turkey and another outstanding race is on the cards for this weekend. Instead of talking about this year's title race and the forthcoming Grand Prix, we are talking about Mosley's scandal and now last year's spy scandal.

I'm not referring to Max and Ron's fight, I'm referring to the brewing war for control of F1 between FOM and FIA (According t Mosley and to some extent Ecclestone)

The war has been simmering away for three decades now. It just begins to bubble up from time to time. It's nothing new, the FIA know how to deal with it without Mosley. He has no leverage to swing a deal and is isolated. If I were Ecclestone, I wouldn't be too disappointed to see him stay for the remainder of the durations. Rather than Mosley aiding the FIA in these negotiations, he's just hindering them (as well as the FIA and Formula One's image).
