I'm thinking of getting a new PC as my current one is starting to get tetchy with some of my games - especially RFactor - with a wide range of problems from lower framerates to the annoying blue screen of death. Also it keeps doing blue screen of death on occasions when it's sat there doing sod all, takes longer to load up and to execute simple programs like Mozilla and MSN.

I'm thinking of getting a specialist gaming machine or something powerful for RFactor and also any other of today's games. I also want to get something that isn't going to leave a hole in my wallet. I'm thinking something along the lines of these 2 would be handy.

Anybody got any other suggestions or are any of the above good? :)

Provided you don't need the monitor, keyboard and mouse, I can put together a spec for you that would beat both of those and cost about £300. Downside is, you'd have to build it yourself, but that's not too difficult. :)

I like some of the gaming PC's on this website. Might get finance too because I'm about to spend a lot of my money on my upcoming racing.

The Gamer Infinity 800 looks the best one to me, but what make of processor is the best to use? AMD or Intel?

Oh no...you *really* don't want to ask that. You'll probably start a war ;)

The only thing I will say is that I used to work in IT many moons ago and the PCs that gave us the most severe amount of trouble were the Dell ones. Cheap 'n' nasty IMHO.

the expensive dells are good, the cheap ones are abysmal, only get one if its expensive, my laptop is amazing and fell down the stairs whilst on without a scratch, (10 wooden stairs!)

BUT if your going cheap dont buy one !

By the time you get to the expensive Dells, you could get something better for less money, though. :/

Hmmm just found an even better value machine at Arbico.co.uk for £500 excl. VAT and delivery, this one is an award winning custom machine, so I've upped the ante slightly on some of the components and it's much better value for money than a machine I was looking at on Cyber Power System. :)

I also had a choice between the Quad Core processor or a 3ghz Dual core processor. Which one should I go for?

What's the clock speed of the Quad Core?

The only issue I can see with that second machine, aside from it being massively over the top, is that it only has a 450w PSU and it's got a lot of hardware in there that will demand a lot of power.

The Quad Core is 2.4ghz. I can upgrade to a 500W power supply if needed as it's only another £7.

Then, if you're happy with what it costs, go for it :)
