Anyone know what the Gumball 3000 Rally is? It is a real life Cannonball Run. (Like in the movies). This has been running since 1999 to date (With Ferrari winning the trophy twice). This is insane. You have cars like Ferrari F-40, Bugatti Veyron, Lamborghinis, Porsches etc etc etc. And they rally (and I am sure they flaw it were they can at high speeds) on public roads. This is my style of racing for sure. If I only had the money to buy a supercar then I would enter. This is basically a rich persons game (Just like most motorsport is I guess). But who knows, maybe one day.

Here is a wikipedia link with more info on this great event.

Here is the main intro about the rally from Wiki.

The Gumball 3000 is an annual 3000 mile (5000 km) international rally which takes place on public roads, which travels around the world. Although set up as a rally with no official timing, or prizes for reaching check points first, during the rally, some participants have been fined for speeding and other traffic offences by the police in countries they passed through,[1] cars have been confiscated[2] and the 2007 rally was cancelled after a car participating in the rally was involved in a fatal collision with a non-participating vehicle. [3] Although the organizers are careful to emphasize that it is a rally and not a race,[4] it is sometimes referred to as a race on public roads.[5][6][7][8][9]

Nice, just what I like, a race on public roads. :D

Somehow I don't think our Kia would be up to the challenge... :P

Sounds like fun, though. I remember when some of us at college were going to have a small race across Europe. Somehow it never went through... :(
