To be honest, I've not been impressed by that much music from the 21st century. I'm sort of stuck in the olden days :P

^ What taste would that be?

Ah, okay. I can't really imagine what it would be. I have a really varied taste in music, so people often get a lot of shocks when they listen to my MP3 player ;)

i have a range but it goes from meodic death metal to metalcore to emo stuff with some classical and trance,

this is what most gets people i hate the beatles and music like that, i like fast stuff with electro in it, o slow meaningful music, not the in between,

but what i cant stand is music snobs, where people just dismiss a whole genre as rubbish, its fair enough not too like it tho

i do love my music tho, thus the expensive earphones!

there, dont judge me for it, alot of people do!!

Quite like me, actually. But I've never been able to get into things like trance. Don't know why. No matter how hard I try, I can't seem to like it.

The Bury I'm from is in Lancashire, a fact that will probably make you dislike me somewhat, given your location :P

I'm kidding, of course. :)

The thing about the music industry is it often about looks or who you know rather than what you know. There has been some talent, however. There is a small band from Northern Ireland called The Answer, doing kind of classic rock stuff. I'm a big fan of Muse and Evanescence. Another opera group whom I think are good is Il Divo. When you get beyond the mainstream, radio-friendly crap, that's when you see the real talent. It's the same in acting; you see far better actors there than what you do in Hollywood films. Overall, I like different music: I've been to rock concerts in jeans and a t-shirt and jeans, as well as operas, wearing my dinner suit! There is some music I don't like, but I still respect it if it is a true work of art, i.e. their voice isn't enhanced, they write their own songs, and can play their instruments well.

McLaren Fan is dead right with the part about going past mainstream music. :)

I think that, if I had to choose something recent, it would be Rylynn by Andy McKee, though not a song as such. The way he plays things on the guitar is just brilliant. He can be a full band with just one instrument, and a lot of his music is really great.

I'm a big fan of Muse and Evanescence.

I mainly prefer music from the 80's and 90's, but out of today's bands Muse are my favourites. :)

Generally that's true for me. Good to see you like Muse. 8)
