Force India usher in a new era at Mumbai launchForce India launched their 2008 season in style on Thursday, unveiling their challenger at an official ceremony in Mumbai. The new car - a revised version of the 2007 Spyker - has been named the VJM01.

The glittering event, which took place on the Indian city’s glamorous waterfront at the historic Gateway of India monument, also gave the assembled guests the first glimpse of the car's striking new gold, tungsten and white livery.

“Today is a memorable day not only for me as the owner of India’s first-ever Formula One team, but also for millions of Indians who can today watch India occupy a place of pride as Force India becomes the first and only Indian Formula One racing team to compete with the best in the world, at the pinnacle of motorsport,â€

That's a proper launch, certainly a lot more professional than a month or so back the Autosport motorshow.

In my opinion, the interim livery was much nicer than that. White and gold don't go together. Deep red, white and a few gold trims here and there, however, is awesome. It's a shame they changed it. Let's just hope that the car runs better than it did when they were Spyker.

No, he came fourth on the first day of the previous Barcelona test. Which is pretty good, but I don't know whether he was carrying a low fuel-load or something like that. I like Fisi, though and I hope he does well at Force India.

From autosport.com:

Fisichella confident about VJM01 potential

By Michele Lostia and Pablo Elizalde Friday, February 8th 2008, 10:42 GMT

Giancarlo Fisichella has been pleased with the progress made with the Force India car since he joined the team earlier this year.

The Silverstone-based squad have been testing with last year's B-spec car, introduced late in the 2007 season, as they continue working on their 2009 machine.

Fisichella reckons the current car, the VJM01, has potential to help the team move forward.

"Since I first drove the car, we've made significant steps forward, especially in the car's set-up," Fisichella was quoted as saying by Gazzetta dello Sport. "The Force India has potential and there will be new aerodynamics already at the Barcelona test.

"The budget is adequate, there's the structure, and the right people. The 2009 car is already under development. I want to grow with this team and to carry on racing in F1 for a few more years.

"(The objective is) to make the car gradually improve from the last rows, where we'll obviously be at the beginning."

Fisichella joined Force India following three years at Renault, and the Roman admits he was hoping to stay at the French squad as a reward for his work.

"Flavio (Briatore) has a love called Alonso," he said. "For what I gave I was counting on (a contract extension), and with Alonso we could have re-build the dream team from 2005 and 2006. Instead they chose Piquet: that's politics."

I can see them scoring in the mid places to be honest with you, maybe 7th? it will be quit a funny battle with Honda & Williams :) but Toyta must prove themselves this season worthy of points...otherwise please jump of the roster and give another team a chance..such as Pro Drive, owned by David Richards, which i might add is a fantastic Man :D

I think you're underestimating Williams' chances a bit, unless you're thinking Honda and FI are going to be towards the top.
