From autosport.com:

I'm not quitting, says Dennis

By Jonathan Noble Sunday, December 16th 2007, 11:58 GMT

McLaren boss Ron Dennis has insisted that he is not going to quit as chief of his Formula One team, despite the increasing fallout over the spying scandal.

The Woking-based team were forced to make a apology to the sport's governing body earlier this month for not realising just how far Ferrari information had spread within their organisation.

And with an FIA technical inspection having thrown up suggestions that Ferrari-inspired parts were being considered for their 2008 car, McLaren also offered a design moratorium on those developments in a bid to stave off the threat of sanctions.

The admissions have cast question marks over the future of team boss Ron Dennis, but speaking to the News of the World on Sunday, the Briton made it clear that he has every intention of carrying on.

"I'm not going to quit. That is 100 per cent," he said. "I know there are people out there who want me to retire, but I'm not. I do not think it would be in the best interests of the team."

McLaren's public apology and the offer of the design freeze have left the FIA keen to bring the spying matter to a close, with FIA president Max Mosley asking the World Motor Sport Council to cancel a hearing into McLaren's 2008 car plans scheduled for next February.

A decision on that matter is expected this week.

Who ever thought RD would step down or retire is a bonehead. McLaren will most likely comeback even stronger.

I hope they come back stronger, All the better for a good season of racing. As for Ron, I think he was considering stepping down, or at least taking more of a back seat, but that was before lewis showed such excellent promise , and before Max tried to fight personal battles through F1. I imagine Max has had exactly the opposite effect to the one he wanted and Ron will now be determined to stay. Good on him I say. :D

I honestly dont think that 'stepping down' was even considered by RD. McLaren is RD's baby and he will "Not Golightly Into That Good Night" so to speak.

The stepping down was muted before the season started when McLaren was healthy and safe to pass on and Ron could spend more time with wife etc. That changed with the spy scandal and he wont want to leave at present, not until "his baby" is safe again and certainly not at the behest of Max. Maybe after a drivers and constructors championship

Ron won't step down for a long time yet I reckon.

It's my own view that Ron Dennis will step down until he at least he gets another drivers' and constructors' championship. Buy and large, Dennis has done very well at McLaren ans it's a shame the general was let down by some of his staff officers in 2007. Dennis still has what it takes.

I don't like Ron personally  but I would not like him to go. F1 needs all different personalities & the more spice there is the more exciting it is.

Why don't you like him? He's a decent, honest man, who rose from being a mere mechanic to being the most successful team boss in Formula One history. The reason he comes across as slightly melancholy at times is because he is actually rather shy and admitted so himself.

I like him even tho he can be a bit pedantic at times, i like his attitude his commitment and, like McLaen Fan said, he's a self made man, I admire that but I think some people resent it

I admire what he has done & achieved but just like JT I just cannot bring myself to like them.
I am happy he is around & don’t want him gone.
I am sure he wouldn’t loose any sleep knowing I don’t like him.

Like Mosley, who, despite his aristocratic, blue blood, was useless. His only qualities are selfishness, jealousy and deceit. All in all, a good politician.

And this I think is the route cause of Mosley going after ron, this resentment of him coming fron nowhere to achieve such success, I think it is this more than the attempt at a breakaway F1....but I guess that was the icing on the cake
Talking of which, I actually am icing a cake at the moment :D

No I think the opposite. If he quits Max has won
