[quote]Trophies conclude dramatic season[i]
The star-studded FIA Gala in Monaco was a fitting finale for a dramatic season in the FIA Formula One World Championship. Not since 1986 has the championship hosted a three-way title showdown at the final round, with Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen taking the title in a thrilling finish.

Raikkonen said: “I am very happy to be here to receive this trophy that comes with winning the World Championship. This has always been my goal and I am particularly pleased to have achieved it in my first year with Ferrari, which is a fantastic team of people who are extraordinary, both professionally and from the human point of view.

“This victory is the result of the efforts of a group that never threw in the towel, even when all seemed lost. I also want to thank my family, my wife Jenni and everyone who has been close to me since the start of my career.â€

Raikkonen gurning about life at McLaren is, as I said the other day, old news. It's not the first time the drunkard has thrown his toys from the buggie. The fact is Ron Dennis said Raikkonen could do whatever he wanted in his free time so long as it didn't affect his driving. Indeed, Dennis wanted Raikkonen to remain at McLaren. Raikkonen is a very good driver, but these unappreciative comments are becoming very tiresome.

I thought Kimi left McLaren because they didn't deliver the car. Zero wins in 2006 right? Plus who wouldn't snap up a space in a Ferrari if he could, especially with all that money that came with it? You know you'll eventually get a title there, even if you have to spend a year or two developing it. Mclaren spent all the time Kimi was there NOT keeping up with Renault and Ferrari.

McLaren haven't won a title in 9 years, that's why he left.

Oh, and they say if you pour water on Ron Dennis he short circuits...

Kimi's lazy he hopped into world champion Mikas seat hoping for a title, didnt get it then hopped into world champion Schumis seat and got a title he will retire soon.

I agree. Raikkonen is very gifted, but he's reluctant to put in the legwork. To be a great in Formula One, or any sport for that matter, it's not enough to be gifted or to have potential; you have to use it. Raikkonen may be, say, a tenth of a second faster than Schumacher, but Schumacher is miles better as he was generally great in most departments. Raikkonen, despite his speed will always be a driver who never fulfilled his maximum potential, which is a shame because a half-cut Raikkonen is still as good, if not better, than a lot of drivers on the grid.

As a footnote, as it were, his constant gibes at McLaren are turning him into a prima donna a la Alonso.
