After reading all your comments about possible drivers in the next years lineup I found it a bit odd that NO ONE, mentioned Giancarlo Fisichella.

It's very clear that he won't have any driver 1-status in future after this horrible second part of the season. Still I claim that he's more than an average driver when the car suits him, and this year he actually had a lot of unfortune due to the last races. :(

I'm not trying to say that Heikki wasn't the best of the Renault drivers analysing the whole season. However Fisichella made a very impressive race somewhere in Europe starting all way back, making several really impressive overtakes and finished a bit sad on P9 - that's the kind of moment when Giancarlo showes that he can give strength and rutine to any team!

Personally I'd love to see him end up his career in the 2k8:s version of Renault along with Alonso, they were definitely a good working unit together in 2006? :?:

Doesn't Giancarlo have potential as a F1-driver anymore?

Fisichella is a nice guy, however, his driving has not been up to standard for years. It's time for him to go.

I think its best now that he concentrates on his GP2 team . But will miss his wake up calls from Pat :D:D And I loved his early interviews when he spoke very little English. :D Nice guy.

Ever since Fisi won that GP for Jordan and was found second at the priceceremony I've felt for him. No guy that complains in any terms. Doesn't agree that he has been bad for more than this season.

Look at 2006 for example. Fisi ended up fourth in the standings with 80+ points something, quite far from Alonso though. But he was the outspoken 2nd driver and did a great job (like Rubens for Schumi) even if he didn't have Alonsos speed.

I would call him a perfect second driver. With equal equipment I'd find it hard to see that Nelson Piquet would pace him down. Just have a look at old practisingtimes...

Let's say that he had some info that he could be out the picture for 2k8. Then I'm sure he would have done much better in the last races (avoiding that Yamamoto-collision etc). Have Briatore ever commented it like Fisichella is about to be replaced? :?:

Forza Fisi! (Even if the gutter comes next)

"Come on Fizzy, get a move on mate or you'll not get ahead of the Spyker at the next stop!"

"You've been black flagged Fizzy. In now please Giancarlo, in now, come on, hurry up!"

I like to call this "Symonds' Cattle Prod". :P

Briatore has sort of said that. he hasnt signed either of his drivers (way things are going Briatore might not have a team!!) Fisi has had some great races and gave Alonso a run for his money occassionally. he was fragile tho and easily lost the plot but on a good day was great "I very 'appy! :D

My favourite Renault Radio moment with Fisi was in China 05 when he had a drive through penalty.

"Giancarlo you have a drive through penalty"

His reaction.... "OOOHHH NOOOOOOOOO" in his italian accent was a crack up

"ïts ok it wont effect the championship"

His victory in Malaysia in 2006 was one of his greatest drives, especially as he'd lost one of his closest friends earlier that week and then he dedicated his win to him in his memory.

Thx guys for the lovely Fisi-quotes, feels a little bit better... =)

He used to be a quite good qualifier I remember and not the easiest to pass. In a race last year he fought many laps to the finishline with someone (who?) and the opponents engine blow just a few meters from the flag...

Haha, that's how all races are meant to be! :D

It was Button, who'd also started from pole and just went backwards in the race.

Fisi showed great speed when he had the right setup which I believe was due to Alonso's crew sharing their setup info with him. Frankly what I have determined is Fisi does not have the mental fortitude to be a consistant front runner. If his car does not perform well in qualifying he seem's to get very flustered and there goes his confidence and focus for the race.
