So FA/Renault talks are pretty much fruitless as Renault wants FA for 3 years at least, while FA is looking only for 1 year deal... rumours are he is looking at Ferrari for 2009, though both current Ferrari drivers have contracts for 2009.

I don't think that FA and his manager are stupid, so if they want to be available for 2009, there probably is reason. Renault is obviously not that reason. McLaren is obviously not that reason. What remains from top-players (unless 2008 brings some huge surprises - but I don't think FA team is counting on surprises) are BMW and Ferrari. No BMW mentioned in rumours, though.

What you say..?

It could also be that he does not expect Renault to be big players and is looking some wriggle worm so he can get out of the team when a better drive becomes free. My gut feeling is that there is a connexion with Ferrari somewhere.

If he's smart (or has smart advisors), he'll eye BMW-Sauber in 2009. Not that I'd want him there...

Yeah but both Ferrari drivers are contracted for 2009. And if Kimi wins 2008, I really don't see Ferrari replacing Massa with FA. Having one champ material and other solid (but not THAT good) driver is winning combo, McLaren is living proof you don't want both drivers as good. After all, Ferrari did their best with non-equal drivers, and FA for sure would not play support to Kimi.

What is situation with BMW contracts, anyway..?

Both drivers are confirmed for 2008 - beyond that BMW-Sauber are rather secretive.

I hope by Alonso's action's this year that Ferrari never take's him as a driver. I wanted to shoot him when he did all those stupid monkey dance's and such after a win last year, what a turd  !

I think they would break Massa's contract or do a deal to place him elsewhere. I agree its not a bright move but I think thats where hes going. Id rather no top team take him after this year, but the wicked side of me  would like to see him alongside Kimmi. He would go ballistic everytime Kimmi beat him, Kimmi wouldnt give a fig what his team mate was doing

Same for me. Let Ferrari deal with the little twonk. He will be a very de-stablising force in any team he goes to if he can't be number one. That's perhaps why the offers aren't coming thick and fast for him. I think he's really queered his pitch by his actions this year.

Hmmm, what is he up to?

I'm not sure if Kimi will want him at Ferrari, he refused to play 2nd fiddle to Schumacher after all and Ferrari don't work that way, they prefer to have a spiritual number 1 driver.

I think he's waiting to see how well BMW do or even some of the other hopefuls like Red Bull or who knows, Honda now that RB has been signed...

Rather like Schumacher, F.A has shown that he cannot work well with a competitive team mate, so, unless he has heard that Kimi will drive for Force India in 2009 I dont think ferrari likely. Personality wise, I cannot see Kimi & F.A. working well together. Kimi would not take well to F.As silly games. I think that Ferrari would make a mistake if they took on F.A. with Kimi.
I suspect that F.A. just wants to keep his options open, he clearly does not expect Renoualt to be a front runner again for a while, and there are a few teams that may surprise in 2008 - Honda, R.B., BMW, Williams.

i'm not so sure. kimi is now the undisputed number 1 in the team and i'm sure his say counts for a lot. He would defintely not want FA in the team disrupting his flow and possibly the whole team as he tries to get his way of working implemented

FA needs to goto a team where the management will support him being the number one driver.

and that place is not at ferrari in the near future. his only sensible options are now Renault and RBR what he should do is now sign a contract, end the speculation and get ready to rebuild his carrer and reputation
