However, Theissen expects the effect of this change to be minor with regards to the overall balance of power.

"We expect the cars to move more without traction control. Overall, I believe the ban will have less of an influence than the switch to unified tyres," he says.

I find that an interesting statement and on the face of it, he's probably right - tires ARE so important, while TC is less. You can learn to drive w/o TC or unlearn TC, but if you don't have the right feel for the tires in your toes, you're thoroughly screwed.

I agree DD, and with tires/tyres being so important, being that tyre manufacturers preferred team helps enormously.

And of course Bridgestone were not really going to supply their best tyres free of charge were they?

as I understand it the only affect that no TC will have is that graining will happen a lot quicker depending on a driver's style. I think this is a good move we will finally find out who is the best driver in the paddock

Looks like we'll be seeing drivers having to look after their tyres more. Somebody mentioned Lewis used a lot of TC last year a lot more than some other drivers so I wonder if he'll be affected? Knowing Lewis he'll have no problems coping as he'll have driven cars without TC throughout his career before F1. :)

well it all depends on which teams TC played a major roll in their speed in the dynamics of the chassis as a whole

I don't think that's the whole story. I'd expect some differences in the corners as well, some more sliding, some different speed patterns between drivers and hence some more battles/overtaking around corners.

so what difference does the preffered manufacturer make?
