With button staying at honda (and as he was widely regarded as one of the top drivers especially in conditions like the wet, and the most smooth driver which is of benefit without TC) do you think honda have either a trick up their sleeve keping button there or maybe a cracking season due to this? might just be talking crap mind ;)

One major benefit for them is that they will have transfered all their R&D to the 2008 car early, while McLaren and Ferrari couldn't afford to. They had a real turkey of a car last year but they're a good team with good people, and Jenson is still one of the very top drivers in F1, so I hope they'll improve. Renault are also looking like they've improved significantly, and I can't see BMW falling back, so 2008 may be even more competetive than 2007.

yeah i would love to see 3,4 or even 5 teams competing for the title. honda toyota etc all got loads of dosh. and toyota said they wana go to the top, which they have done in other motorsports. honda's car seemed to get slightly better towards the end of the season as well.

It might just be my memory, or lack thereof, but it seems like whenever there's a rule change Button says it's gonna help him.

That being said, his style should suit the non TC cars. Can Honda build a decent car? Gonna be very tough coming back from the year they had. I don't see them much above midfield next year.

yeah, never know though, they got the money and with the new rules i think its gonna be easier for teams to compete with each other. will be a fun season i think. can see lots of crashes and spins tho

Yeah, I didn't get a chance to say it in the traction control thread, but I'm hoping for a lot more excitement and an easier time of telling the very talented from the talented, next year.

Of course, I don't want anyone getting hurt, but it seems almost impossible to spin these cars. Too easy to drive if you ask me. I think the aero rules for '09 are going to make it even better.

I will tell you this about Honda. They can go from suck to champions over night. I saw them do it in Champ Cars and I would bet they will also do it in F1.

Of course in F1 you are not just making an engine so there is that extra work, but I will never forget Bobby Rahal dragging around the back of the pack with Honda then dumping them at the end of one year only to see them kick bottom the next.

yeah honda are a massive company. and wouldnt take much for them to fund a push. same with toyota. car designs are sposedly getting more simply. dont know hlow this engine development thing will work, if teams cant make better engines and there engines arent as good, its all a bit strange.

Jenson's still a good driver, he just needs a good car behind him, I'd love to see "Battles of the Brits" between him and Hamilton. :)

And the best thing about that would be that it would be a complete contrast of styles, Button silky smooth and Hamilton all pyrotechnics and flair

Hopefully with that we'll see Button and Hamilton doing something a bit like this at the 1986 Hungarian GP... ;)

After such a poor season, Honda will bounce back as its important for the company to be up there with BMW at least. I'm hopeful they've learned from this year and won't repeat the same mistakes.
