Here's a controversial topic if ever there was one.

Do you think the last two races of this year's WDC were scripted after the fiasco of the Stepneygate affair?

I'm not going to say yes or no, but here's some points to consider:

1. Why did McLaren keep LH on track in China when he was lapping 7 seconds a lap slower than FA and his tyres were completely worn out?

2. Did LH slide into what was the only gravel trap on the Chinese circuit? Was that just bad luck?

3. What was up with Ferrari 'not receiving' those email messages in Fuji? Is that even relevant?

4. That gearbox failure in Brazil. We've got half the world's press saying one thing, and half saying another. What actually happened? And why haven't we been told?

5. Why, when FA was supposed to be chasing a world championship, did he seem totally disinterested in Brazil, and at one point was passed by RK on nothing but sheer pace. Does that make any sense?

Too many polls spoil the forum, but no, it was just bad luck/planning.....

OK, you probably know my views on this so far but I wouldn't exactly call it a fix. (more conspiracy theory stuff here since some of the children managed to get the last thread locked and I would've preferred to keep it there)

Can you call it a fix if a team is caught cheating and are kicked out? that is what I'm effectively saying happened to McLaren but for the good of F1 they were allowed to continue running to give the impression they were still in the competition and in the event of a McLaren driver winning the drivers championship new evidence would surface showing their car to be illegal in which case they would be stripped of the title and banned for at least next year. Not many people were in on this deal, only Bernie, Ron and Lewis and maybe one or two in the FIA or WMSC and then Alonso was told just before the final race in Brazil. Ferrari were never told as they could've upset things considerably if they were in the know, for example in Brazil they could've let Massa win, giving Hamilton or Alonso the title only for it to be taken away and given to Kimi when the McLaren was 'found' to be illegal and Ferrari would have an easy time next year with McLaren out the way. Max was also kept out of this as he couldn't be trusted not to spill the beans to his mates in Ferrari and was left wondering why, with all the evidence at the hearing that McLaren hadn't been kicked out all together.

So I'm not really saying it was fixed, only that McLaren were found to be cheating and were to be removed from contention by their own hand and if they didn't comply in the end then they'd be removed by force. [/conspiracy]

Some of this season certainly feels like a fix, but I doubt it.

What swings it for me is that if the season was a fix, why is so much of the season going through the civil courts? The ICA is one matter, but actually pursuing things like the customer cars and espionage saga through actual law courts is another.

Yes but the question wasn't about the season being a fix... just the last two races Selcouth Feline, which were in the fallout of the FIA "hearing".

The season couldn't have been a fix. And even with the spy story, Mclaren unfortunately had to take the 'exemplary punishment' for something that obviously should not happen in F1, and indeed, maybe the punishment was not harsh enough for the sake of competition. Think about it.. it would have sucked to see Lewis and Alonso kicked out....

As for the last 3 races... how could there be any 'conspiracy'??!! I think it was all as random as it gets. Ferrari was at the back in Japan, it was swamped so anything could have happened, to Lewis as it did to Alonso (Lewis almost got rear ended).

China was a close race, like almost every race in the season.. except that Lewis went off... nothing to say about it had it been Fisichella going off.

Brazil... was crazy but Alonso admitted he had no pace on Ferrari so he just played it cool and made the move he HAD to make: take on Lewis (this is why Alonso is a great and succesful driver). The rest was just HOPE for any Ferrari issue. Massa even slided, and Kimi could have hit in in Turn 1, then the BMWs and Williams almost took eachother out in a single go...

The possibilities were there for everyone. The thing is with such a competitive season, any win would have been amazing.

It wasn't a fix, anyone that could arrange that is a genius and deserves to get away with it. This is F1, not WWE (or whatever it's called), individual teams with their own sponsors, budgets, drivers and desire to perform and possibly win.

No fixing.
