Now this might just be me, but over the last few years, Mclaren really have been up and down with car development.

In 2002, they were no where
In 2003, they used a updated version of the 02 car and nearly took the title.
This led many to predict that in 04 Kimi could again challenge for the championship, but did it happen? Took Belgium before it was challenging.
2005, bar the reliability it was a great car, just missing out on the title
2006, again much promise... but yeah we seen what happened there...
And as seen this year, it was a title challenging car, for both Lewis and Fernando
Now Alonso will probs leave in 2008, leaving Lewis with a dog of a car, if history repeats itself?

I see Max is promising to go through the McLaren 08 with a fine eye and dish out some form of penalty if it contains any Ferrari IP.

I bet they do find Ferrari equipment on the 08 Mclaren...

Then the governing body will say to Mclaren: You're going to get thrown out of the championship Mclaren cause we hate you, even though our stupidity is killing part of the sport!
But after many tests we have concluded that Mclaren are using the same components as Ferrari Next year... the Bridgestone Tyres...

I know, just boils down to the FIA not wanting to upset Ferrari. For decades now it's an unwritten rule that teams learn from one another and try and build on what works.

About time Max stopped his crusade, as I'm sure teams are learning from the McLaren. Hopefully Honda will at least!

It might depend on who McLaren get as Hamilton's teammate next season. An experienced driver doesn't necessarily mean a car will be quick. Honda have the grid's most experienced driver, and they were terrible! Same applies to Toyota.

But would Rosberg have had such a good season if it wasn't for Wurz setting up the car so well?

Also, about this statment:

Hamilton will have to do the car set up, next year Alonso won't be there to help him have a winner car...good luck mc laren!!!

Alonso and Hamilton were both brand new drivers for McLaren. Each would have helped in their own way. It's ridiculous to assume that Alonso would have had everything to do with how quick the McLaren was, because he and Hamilton are two different drivers, and the car worked well enough for each of them to score 109 points.

So surely if the McLaren was entirely Alonso's creation, he would have comfortably beaten Hamilton in the driver's championship. And besides, I was under the impression that Alonso had resorted to hiding setup information anyway...

Even if there was no spy scandal, I still wouldn't be certain as to what McLaren are going to do next season:

2000: reliability
2001: poor chassis and electronic components failing
2002: another poor chassis and average aerodynamics
2003: the new car never arrived
2004: yet another poor chassis and an awful engine from Mercedes-Ilmor
2005: reliability
2006: reliability
2007: for once the team got it right but outside influences got in the way
2008: God only knows

Hamilton will have to do the car set up, next year Alonso won't be there to help him have a winner car...good luck mc laren!!!

That's okay. It might not be such a problem, After all, for ages now Alonso has not been sharing any setup information with Hamilton and Hamilton has continued to out-perform him.

By the way, what if McLaren are useless next season, as previous trends suggest they are going to be? Will Alonso accept all of the blame saying as he is wholly responsible for setup etc. of the car?

You McLaren fans have been harping on about the FIA and Ferrari being in bed for so long, if this is true then it's bad news for you guys. The FIA is going to go through McLaren's car and report back to Ferrari and allow them to use McLaren technology, kind of returning the favour.

A bit of justice perhaps?

I must to correct you, for once the team got a good car... and the stupid Ron Denis took a wrong decision.

I remember you that hamilton lost the champion due to try to pass alonso. He only need the 4th position no the 1. Why Ron Denis didn't say this by radio?

Well, how do you know what was said over the radio. You are only making an assumption. If Dennis did say something over the radio, who's to say Hamilton listened? If Dennis didn't say anything over the radio perhaps it was because he had ten seconds to recover from the shock of watching Hamilton get overtaken by Raikkonen and Alonso with Hamilton's car going at 150 mph plus down the straight to the next corner. Furthermore, Hamilton knew the situation regarding how many points he made. The ball was in his court.

Then we are in agreement, Mc Laren choose a wrong strategy. Hamilton knew only needs 4th position why does he try go forward?

'coz he's a natural racing driver. They wouldn't be out there if they weren't competitive, especially with someone that has stirred so much **** in the team. In the end that wasn't what beat him. It was his first mechanical gremlin of the year that stopped him winning the championship.

The thing is with the car they can't have anything that looks remotely like anything on the ferrari.
