A bit of a nothing article designed to get people to read it. It's natural that after what Alonso has said, done and tried to do this year that McLaren would like to see Hamilton win. Furthermore, should Alonso win and leave the team, he would take the number one with him to his new team. It was the same when Balestre did Senna out of the 1989 title. Dennis appealed partly because the number one would be on its way to Ferrari.

Ron tried his best to be fair but Alonso tried to split the team he was offering bonuses (bribes ?) to the technicians if he won.

Prima donna Drivers like Alonso, Schumacher and Senna aren't worthy champions, they cause tit for tat reponses in team mates (as Senna did with Prost and Mansell) and damage teams.

The days of play boy drivers like James Hunt or Mike Hawthorn are past, the days of driver who got by on sheer courage like Vittorio Brambilla or Clay Regazzoni are past, we live in an age where drivers have to be an integral part of the team.

There's a difference between bonuses and bribes, please seperate the two and don't flame more rumors. Second, he offered incentives to HIS mechanics. Once you do a good job for your company, you get a bonus at the end of the quarter, is this a bribe??

Lewis: McLaren want me to win the title

http://www.planetf1.com/story/0,18954,3 ... 17,00.html

Yeah, I don't know... once in a while I have feeling LH is just pretending to be a genuine nice guy but underneath he's just a talented spoiled brat. As of yesterday I've seen two articles where LH is rinsing his mouth with FA. Even if he's right, it DOES NOT feel right to address press with such crap at this sensitive point of season; it will just ad more tremor into already shaken team. The only thing I can see him achieving is building his position by using momentum (after FIA ruling and all the ugly things in British press regarding FA) to undermine FA's position - which is as selfish as selfishness goes.

As contrast, FA is not giving any interviews, just focusing to win – or loose – on the track rather than trying to play mind games with his rival(s). I'm sure he'll talk as well - but AFTER the season ends.

Like, in F1-live.com LH says:

"Fernando has been the world champion coming into the team, especially at the beginning of the season he's the guy that's supposed to take them to the championship, and they've bent over backwards to make him feel comfortable.

"Me and (reserve driver) Pedro de la Rosa have done the same. We've been told: 'Try and make Fernando feel welcome in the team'. We've done that, and then you saw what he did to the team."

That is pathetic bullcrap. He's acting like he's part of McLaren F1 for decade, almost like he IS McLaren rather than rookie who just joined F1 big boys (while FA is in the game for a few years). And I really don't believe that crap about whole team bending over FA - it was obvious for some time that kid was actually everyone’s pet from day one, being Britton and RD's protégé.

And why should anyone have to try (pretend?) to make one feeling welcome - unless they made him unwelcome before that..?
