F1 Chief Executive Ecclestone, however, is quoted as objecting to the idea of hybrid engines for Grand Prix racing.

"I believe we are already green enough," the 76-year-old said, adding that he also doubts that hybrids "will make the manufacturers happy."

:roll::roll::roll:

I'd like to hear how they are already green enough...
Yeah, maybe greenback enough!

Ah, the global warming myth again. The climate changes by itself. In ancient times they didn't have cars etc. but it was much warmer then. Then, in medieval times he climate went into decline before beginning to heat up in 1700 or so. Anything for tax, use less fuels from our Arab friends, and convert to nuclear power.

convert to nuclear power.

Except nuclear power is dangerous therefore they don't want to build any more :roll: Tax - you hit the nail squarely on the head there!

I'm not too sure about the hybrid engine thing, however it would be good if they had limited amounts of fuel per race and therefore had to find better engine efficiencies. I don't agree with all this green malarkey but I would like to see F1 go greener if only because it might spawn even more creativity which will eventually filter it's way onto road cars.

Hm, nuclear F1 cars - now there's an idea...

I agree, I think global warming's a hoax and an excuse to raise taxes, people moan about the polar ice caps melting and are almost gone but after watching the Top Gear race to the North Pole, Clarkson was pretty damn right when he said "the north pole looks like it's barely been touched".

And if there's icebergs and chunks of antartica going missing, why do they keep coming back and re-freezing then?

It's more complex than that - Antaractica this year has seen some snowmelt whcih might be cause for concern. Some parts of Antarctica are experiencing less snowmelt than usual whislt others are expeirencing more. Part of the problem is where the snow melt is now occurring - places like the Ross Ice Shelf (I think?) are experiencing persistent snow melt. The issue here is that it is inland and forms ponds on the ice. The water in the ponds can then get into small cracks in the ice. When the water eventually refreezes, it forces the cracks to widen and this may cause ice fractures. Places like the Ross Ice Shelf also act as a brake for glaciers by acting as a sort of shield for the glacier away from the warmer air. If the ice shelf warms up, it could change the patterns of the glaciers.

So, it might not look like it's touched, but there are underlying issues which could cause massive changes in the near future.

Having said that, I don't buy into this global warming (climate change? Whatever the latest buzzwords are!) malarkey in the slightest and, like you say, I'm fed up with our government pushing the green issue to cover up stupid taxes etc.
