Yes - still I'm somewhat surprised that F1 as a whole seems to be a bit behind in that area. Especially considering the billions they're spending on their favorite hobby every year. Or maybe it's by design that the security is like a Swiss cheese? OOOOH, conspiracy theorists could have a field day here...

How can you tighten the human element of security though? You can train people 'til you're blue in the face, but they forget or won't listen. Even with the best cryptography and protection, if Stepney was really hell-bent on giving information to Coughlan, all the security in the world wouldn't have stopped him because he would have had access anyway....

It could have made his life harder though. Just imagine something like the following: certain top secret files require not only a password, but a specially designed dongle on your computer (and only YOUR computer - see individual MAC serial numbers for every computer manufactured) to even open. Printing only on specially assigned printers (again with password and monitoring what gets printed via IT dept.), copy and paste only possible when supervisor's code is entered as well. Etc., etc.
