We're all aware that Mclaren will be getting a smaller garage for next season due to the sentence. But what happens if LH wins the championship? It's likely he'll be at McLaren next season, not so with FA, but anyway, surely the World Champion should be towards the top end of the pit lane? I mean, he would be driving car #1. As the champion he would deserve the resources to defend his crown, but does anyone know if the drivers title has any effect on pit lane position?

^^^ I would have thought it imperative that LH has as large a garage as possible...

if for no other reason than to be able to fit his head in :lol:

I think it's just the constructors points that determine the pit location/allocation.

The Spyker team manager said it was to do with constructors' points, so McLaren will be losing some space.

^^maybe its because there was a free pit garage

i think its only one thing that will affect them, it will not be all bad, at least they're beside prodrive, plus they can adjust.

The funny thing i think is next year, aguri will have a bigger garage than Honda, lol

the drivers championship have NO bearing on pit position...
1997 Damon Hill left Williams for Arrows, taking the number 1 with him, and they were still down the botton of the pit lane.

the choice of position is done by constructor championship position... ie the team that wins gets first choice, then the team that came second...

the calculations are fairly complex, but in 95% of circuits the teams are better off at the start of the pitlane, but on occasion, teams have decided to reverse the order, but this doesn't happen often. mainly because at the older circuits, the newer, larger pits with more space for motorhomes are at the top of the pitlane
