Kimi is literally driving for his F1 life right now, every year he seems to do this; driving like an average driver for the first half of the season, then Ferrari threaten him with not having his contract renewed and suddenly he speeds up significantly, why? If he has the talent, why not drive like that from day one?

I agree with you, MOA; however, I would take that one step further and
suggest that there are a number drivers are in the same situation:
Massa, Button, even Alonso, just to pick on the "older" guys...
Then, again, the younger ones aren't safe, either... just ask Kvyat!
