Just a week away from the first race of 2016 in Melbourne Australia.

Lots to look for in Aus.

The Americans are back in F1. Haas will be eager to earn its first points in F1.

The new 'improved' qually rules will come into effect. Will they shake up the field as intended or just confuse everyone involved?

Testing results had Ferrari looking good setting quick times. Have they closed the gap at all or will Mercedes just turn up their jets in Q3 and run away in the race?

Can Rosberg keep his dominance of Hamilton from the end of last season going or has Hamilton been recharged by his off season globetrotting and Paris Fashion Week to again take his place as Merc's #1?

Ricciardo's home race - Has Red Bull made enough/any progress with their 'new' TAG Heuer engines to help Daniel get on the podium? Without being dq'ed this time.

McLaren is threatening to have found heaps of horsepower inside that Honda. Testing though has them unreliable and about 3s back from Merc. Will they come alive in Aus?

New tire rules to watch for as well.

Just a week away now.

Over the weekend, I downloaded the race schedule onto my phone from the F1 official site and all it took was clicking one button!!

Time flies, this has come round quick!

I'll be in Malta for the weekend, so I'm going to have to set the TV to record.

I hope everyone here is well. Here's to what I hope will be an exciting Grand Prix. :drink:

I have to say that I have not felt the excitement for the F1 season opener for a few years now and this year is no different, the prospect of another forgone conclusion season is not appealing to me. Last season I didn't watch many races live, I simply watched the highlights and even then a cut down race was dull in many cases. This season is likely to be the same for me, there seems to be an apathy towards F1 in general right now, I don't hear the buzz from very many people, even hardcore F1 fans I know.

Are you saying you're getting old? :P

I get what you're saying, but to me it doesn't matter: it'll be fun to watch the circus again. And even if my heart doesn't make any somersaults anymore when the clowns drive into the arena, it's still wonderful to watch the horses, elephants, and the rest.

Getting old, I am past old now... it's almost time to pick out my pine box :P

I don't think I will ever stop watching F1, it's more related to my mental state, F1 is not as important as it once was to me and the stagnant nature and instability of the rules within the sport hasn't helped that feeling of apathy.

I would suggest a lot of this change in priorities has to do with "growing up" more than growing old!
Life comes with more and different responsibilities as the years go by... what once seemed to be the
be all and end all is no longer something we can't live without.

Like DD, I find myself enjoying the show, even if there are some aspects that don't appeal!!

Here's to an exciting, if not exhilarating F1 season and friends to share it with!!

So what exactly was this new qualifying method supposed to do again? We'll settle with this position and not waste a set of tires and maybe see how it goes in the race. Ferrari simply acknowledged that Merc is the superior team. Enzo would have been so proud.

Or maybe... they have something up their sleeve? Image:yes:Image

Not exactly a great start to the season with the disastrous qualifying session, which was designed to spice up the grid, which not only failed, it actually made the whole even dull for TV watching fans and track-side fans alike. There literally were not surprises, Mercedes are far and away the fastest with Ferrari second. Unless Ferrari have something up their sleeve for tomorrow, then it's going to be a 1-2 for Mercedes and 3-4 for Ferrari baring any mishaps. *please let there be mishaps to spice things up*
