It's been too long in my book, the last race was in 1976 (not a great race for Lauda). Since then the circuit has hosted a load of top quality sport events and has seen a F1 car return to the circuit in recent months, with BMW allowing Heidfeld to drive several laps in the 2007 BMW Saubar F1 car.

With resurfacing, promotion, safety tweaks and better equipped marshals, would the FIA consider it?

It would make great television and the issue with covering the event with enough cameras could be solved with strategicly placed cameras, onboard footage and helicopter to cover the race leaders, scraps, accidents etc

I rate that track alongside Monza, Spa, Silverstone and Monaco and would dearly love to see F1 spec cars back there - the Nurburgring GP section, on its own, is just dull in comparison.

Personally I rate it as the greatest track ever created! But however much I'd love there to be a race there I just cant see it happening. The costs would be immense the whole 14 miles would need resurfacing, improved safety, new stands and pits. The coverage would be a bit sketchy too as it's just so bloody big!

Would be nice to see, hopefully we'll have one back at Suzuka next season too.

if they race the whole circuit, it would be fun to see a few cars on the side of the road out of gas. You probably looking at a 10 pit strategy :D

There's some corners on the Nordschleife which today's F1 cars wouldn't be able to go through as the cars run a lot lower compared to the cars back in the 70's.

Just imagine damaging the car half way through, needing to head back to the pit stop for some work.

How many laps would it have for a GP? 4?

well, the old nurbergriung was around 21 laps, so i'd say like 16-25 laps
