I just read the following on Yahoo's F1 site:

An FIA Statement read: "The team representatives have been called to answer a charge that between March and July 2007, in breach of Article 151c of the International Sporting Code, Vodafone McLaren Mercedes had unauthorised possession of documents and confidential information belonging to Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro, including information that could be used to design, engineer, build, check, test, develop and/or run a 2007 Ferrari Formula One car."

I am no expert on technology use if F1, but could someone explain to me if it's possible to implement any Ferrari technology into the McLaren cars in a span of a few months?

I am starting to believe that Ferrari has secretly authorized the release of these documents in order to implicate McLaren. Ferrari lost in 05 & 06 and with Alonso moving to McLaren, I feel they are ready to do anything to bring down their rivals. Don't you ask yourself the following: How did Ferrari find out about these documents? Were they missing? Is Stepney that stupid to just steal this docs, why not just make copies?

That's exactly it: his wife made copies of the Ferrari stuff at a copy store. An employee saw the Ferrari logo and had a hunch that something was fishy with the 700 pages or so and alerted the authorities. Your conspiracy theory has about as much going for as the claim by some nut cases that the federal government planned the 9/11 attacks.

i dunno, stranger things have happened. is it for example, co-incidence that ferrari decided to introduce their ever-so-controversial front wheel bins at the last race? right in the midst of all this chaos?

if the question is - "is it possible that mike and nigel are being framed"? i say that's for the courts to decide, but the possibility shouldn't be dismissed out of hand.

Just think of the potential consequences for Ferrari! If they got caught doing something like this, they'd be banned - not just for a few races, but for years. And their reputation and hence their business would be going down the drain. Ferrari is probably depending the most on being in F1 of all teams. They're too shrewed to make such a stupid mistake.

Hey DD,

You are really superficial. You talk about potential consequences for Ferrari. You must be joking right. Since when does Ferrari worry about the FIA.
How do you explain his wife making copies of 700 pages at the copy store? So you think it's that easy. Say hi to your friend Todt!

Uh, why would I try to explain his wife's stupidity?

And yes, this would be a very serious offense that the FIA would have to sanction severely, no matter what team it is. You call me superficial? Well, you tell me how it compares to blind anti-Ferrari conspiracy mongering.

this theory isnt too far fetched at all! s*** like this always surrounds Ferrari when their main competitor is beating them.

You guys are screwballs, every journalist in F1 has got his eye on this one, if there was any wrongdoings by Ferrari they would be exposed quicker then Mum's undies flying off on Father's Day.

probably worth keeping in mind the people you mention are journalists, people tied to a code of ethics and at the mercy of their editors.

they are also people keen to ensure they don't lose their FIA passes, something easily done when incurring the wrath of bernie.

occasionally, it takes someone outside the loop, thinking outside of the box, to make a suggestion that no-one else dare do. it also helps to have a neutral and public forum in which to share such ideas.

again, i'm not encouraging the suggestion of any wrongdoing, but keeping an open mind in these situations can never be considered a bad thing.
