Sounds as though Monza is only secure for a couple more years before the greedy goblin bites off a bit more of the hand that feeds him....that and the bizarre Italian government situation.

I wonder who Bernie has lined up to replace Monza? He probably is in negotiations with a Nigerian prince.

The classic tracks like Italy need to be kept on the calendar.

Absolutely! The good tracks with history and atmosphere are what the sport is built on. They're getting less and less.

There can't be too many nigerian princes left, every other day i get email that another one has died.

Wherever it would be, it'll be another tilkedrome with no rhythm and a carefully calculated overtake spot.

Monza's not my favourite track but with the old tracks there were variety and character to them that tested the cars and drivers in different ways and all thats being lost.

This is not the first time, Monza or Spa or Silverstone has been under threat of being removed from the calendar, I think that it's Bernie's way of trying to squeeze more $$$ out of the owners.

Its more a case of Bernie trying to keep the owners paying at the previous rates, so that the foreign countries he charges 3x can feel they are part of something historic. All these European classic circuits are all on borrowed time as they are hardly profitable and rely on politicians who are not as enthusiastic as those in places like Greece to 'invest' the money for 'prestige'

For those who are able to read between the lines and the titillating soundbits, not a single European City finds F1 a profitable business, not even at the bargain bucket £99 Silverstone deal, in Germany or France you would likely have to pay a crowd to turn up. The only places who want to host races are not those interested in their population turning up to watch, just interested in PR avenues to whitewash something sordid.

Apart from Britain that has a specific place in F1 and a load of die hard petrol heads, F1 is a tired proposition. Like I have said before formula e is what F1 was in its hay day (hay day for spectators, not for corporates and advertisers and PE funds)

We are all watching F1 die a death right before our eyes, and the really sad bit is that Bernies decline is the reason, without the little pikie around this is going where other series go when they become pointless for new entrants

Monza seems to have been under threat every year for over a decade.

The sport kinda needs it on the calendar, I feel, but Bernie will always have other ideas.

I dislike Monza.... they can remove it for all I care.

But then again I also want Monaco removed...

Sacrilege! :nono:

Monza is a good circuit, unlike any other. I'd miss it. Plus if Monza is off the calendar, there goes the last reason for the passionate Ferrari team to compete in F1.

And Monaco? Seriously....what do you have against the most unique tracks in Formula 1. :hehe:

Bernie does not want to leave a legacy, he wants to leave a big fat family trust.

The needs of the one outweigh the needs of the many.

Ferrari won't leave the sport if Monza left the calender, it's a hollow threat from Ferrari every time because F1 is key to their profits although without Ferrari the sport would ultimately be more sustainable and the little teams would get much more money.

Monaco it's the worst track we've raced on in the last ten years, it's got history and used to be good but the cars have outgrown the track now.

Things need to change, evolve and move on.

Bernie is a stupid senile, confused old man. He should be ousted by the teams.
