Here is the new Info Wing that is being trialled....

It is designed by Anthony Hamilton and is there to display information about a drivers position etc via an LCD display. This is aimed at track spectators, and making the race easier to follow.....

You can't see it since the numbers aren't there. But I kind of feel it screws with the 'complexion' of a race car....I love the side profile of an F1 car as it is.

It looks hideous.

Better to integrate it into the nose of the car or on the side cowl or something. Answered but where it is now. it's not like there's a HUGE flat rear wing on these cars where they can put it, and make the digits larger is it.

Im not sure if its a problem that needs solving. Most F1 races there are big screens and track radio. Ive never been unable to keep up with car positions when at a live race...?

How are we going to see it when an F1 car is flying past? Call me old fashioned, but I prefer the board with LCD lighting like at Luffield at Silverstone.

Is it le mann that they have the lights on the side to say what position the car is in?

This would be better

With a spinning LEWIS or whatever floating above the car.

Not sure about this info wing, have to see it switched on, would maybe look better on the sidepod or rear wing endplate but that would take up valuable space.

It's needlessly complex and to add insult to injury, not as easy to see as this. In Le Man they have the entire number large and in a std area, with it glowing at night. There are also three position ligts. This car is running in p1 therefore it's got a class indicator light on. There are three lights total, so you know each class and the top three in each class.

So Ant Hamilton really has just re invented the wheel, made it out of carbon fibre and tried selling it to Bernie at a massive cost

But to be fair I would assume (although I could obviously be wrong) that all those cars are not as tightly packaged on the sides as an F1 pod. And I guess there mist be SOME ingress into the bodywork ?

it's a step removed form a stick on film with two leads for power. You can put it on a surface even if it's curved. Look at the concave curve on bottom of the door in the Corvette.
