Bernie has said Hamilton won't have points deducted for the McLaren/Ferrari saga. Now I disagree with this:

1. What the hell does Bernie have to do with a FIA decision FFS
2. In horse racing, if a jockey rides a drugged horse to victory he loses the prize money, why doesn't this apply to drivers.

It's pathetic that McLaren have to cheat in order to win.

The drivers don't have direct responsibility.. But if they prove that Mclaren is guilty, it obviosly deserves to be stopped at least for several races. Ferrari risks to lose a lot of money if its competitor was really able to steal something (costs for research, tests, materials.. for every kind of solution they put in these famous sheets!)

it took 4 years for the toyota case to go through the courts and toyota was found to not have any wrong doing, two members of its design team did though.

like i say in another forum, it would be really hard to get the data which is firstly for another chassis so is pointless to mclaren to begin with but to transfer it to your chassis within a couple of weeks and make it work is almost impossible.

Who's to say that the transfer hadn't been going on for months already, before the known transfers?

1: Bernie pays Mosely thats his relation to FIA
2: This ain't horse racing.

Ferrari aint got shxt. Its easier to believe Ferrari is just blowing smoke than it is for RD to stoop to theft of IP in order to beat a competitor. Theres no sport in that. RD is a sportsman!

Coughlan may or not have the integrity of McLaren as he is relatively new. But i would take McLaren's integrity over that of  Ferrari  anytime.

mclaren have to cheat to compete,
there way too neat, just like a bed sheet,
they will all get beat, like in red heat,
mclaren will retreat in defeat!

I'd love to know how they did the search of Coughlin's house - would a normal police officer really know what data is Ferrari's and what's McLaren's? Or did they have a Ferrari rep at the search ;)

I can't see how this would be proved anyway. Like you say Bud, it's gonna be hard to transfer data directly across. Even if they did cheat, I'm sure it's easy to cover up - they could say, look, Ferrari are getting an advantage from a longer chassis, therefore let's experiment with different chassis lengths...in particular, let's make sure we try x.

I do think that if McLaren are found guilty, the drivers should also be docked points - they probably would not have won if they had been in any other car. I guess I'm in a minority with that view though ;)

try hard!

wheres the evidence? other than heirsay? and if thats the case why isnt the McLaren a spitting resemblence to the Ferrari? seeing as the design work of the 21/22 has been on the works since 05!
you know if anything youll find the Ferrari resembling the MP420 more than any previous Ferrari as its running the Zero keel which McLaren invented with the MP420 i guess looking at other peoples intellectual property once its constructed and using the ideas is ok

This is nothing new, teams have been copying each other for years. Go to any test and you'll find spotters armed with high-tech equipment, ranging from high spec cameras to devices able to measure RPM just from the engine note. Then you have the mechanics who move about in F1, spreading knowledge and expertise.

All this is indirect collation of other team's ideas, whereas the Ferrari/McLaren issue is direct - that's the issue.

thats true, but theres still no proof any technical data has been used for the MP4/22

if anything all that coughlan would have got was inside info on Ferrari strengths and weakness's there would have been no time to impliment anything on the 22 as it would have been drastic changes to a programme thats been a year in the making.

i would be looking more towards McLarens 08 challenger for Ferrari technical data, and if theres anything there i think Coughlan and Stepney should both do jail time. F1 and McLaren and Ferrari dont need this poo. though it gives the forums something to talk about ;)

i liked what i heard on tv: while playing poker, knowing your opponent's cards doesn't bring you to victory, but let you makes less mistakes...
i hope i have translated good!

Spot on. Plus there's every likelihood that anything Ferrari have won't work with this season's McLaren - completely different chassis, suspension etc etc
