Horner Gets an OBE
Team Principal recognised for services to motorsport
Christian Horner says he is "shocked" after receiving an OBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours for services to motorsport.
The Red Bull Team Principal has overseen the transformation of the Milton Keynes-based team from midfield runner to three Drivers' and Constructors' Championships in-a-row.
Horner has also played a part in the development of a number of F1 drivers during their junior careers' with his Arden International team, including Heikki Kovalainen, Bruno Senna, Sebastien Buemi and Sergio Perez.
"It's all a bit unexpected. Incredible really," Horner said.
"I'm naturally shocked, but I just feel very honoured and privileged to receive it. To be in the company of men and women who have achieved such great things for the country is something very, very special.
"This is right up there with what I have achieved in motor sport. You look at the list of people and that they have done across all different industries, charities, for their communities, then I'm hugely honoured."
Horner becomes the second member of the Red Bull team to receive an OBE, following in the footsteps of Chief Technical Officer Adrian Newey who was awarded the honour in the 2012 New Year's Honours
