I don't want to sound alarmist after Kubica's accident, but the Canadian GP always has its fair share of crashes, and round the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, they're never small. Should the circuit revise its safety measures in light of last weekend?

i think yes, but please...don't tell anything to Tilke! please!!!

I would say that the accident was a product of an overly aggressive Kubica and a defensive Trulli, not a product of an unsafe track.

Hmm, would be a shame to lose it from the calendar. I think the characteristics of the track helped to make the race exciting (ignoring the accidents for a minute, I think the track provided lots of chances for overtaking and caused a few mistakes so the drivers really had to drive well to get anywhere - unlike Alonso for example)

Maybe that's what's lacking in some other 'safer' tracks, there's no challenge for the drivers, yes make the circuits safe but give them something that makes them unpredictable and challenging too.

Has anyone been really seriously injured in Canada though? They've been going there a long time now, are there more accidents there than anywhere else?

Panis broke both his legs in 1997 when with Prost.

Heidfeld was bitching about the track surface before the race and how long does it take to get a car off the track???

Get rid of it, until it's made safer. I don't enjoy seeing people (almost) lose their lives and people on the podium through sheer luck.

Hell no. F1 is dangerous. Crashes happen. Kubica will be fine. Hell life is dangerous. But there was some very poor driving out there. I have to admit some of it reminded me of Champcar with the number of bonehead driving incidents on display. Leave Montreal as it is.

Let's not get carried away. Kubica's accident happened because he rode on Trulli's rear wheel and catapulted. That sort of thing can happen anywhere.

Brushes with the barrier will happen anywhere there are barriers, look at Monaco. Do you (plural) prefer to see guys go off into the gravel with monotonous regularity, or skim skilfully past track barriers. Yes I admit the barriers are less forgiving, but this is Formula 1 for God's sake.

I have no doubt the Montreal track can be improved, but like someone already said, please don't tell Herman Tilke.

As long as there are drivers like Trulli who can hit the wall under the safety car phase all tracks are too dangerous. Let us ban F1 because idiots like Trulli can get the license

Kubica going flying over Trulli could have happened at any other circuit, even the new ones.

The wall he hit could have been positioned differently. It should be parallel to the track just like it is on the onther side of the hairpin.

One of the only real overtaking tracks left of the calender, would be a great shame to see them do anything to it.

These kinds of accidents will happen anywhere...

racings racing, that could happen at any track it was on a straight there are plenty of them on the calander. the fact Kube had no major injury is testament to the safety of the modern f1 car.

apart from add a crash barrier fence so cars dont go flying over to the other side of the track i dont see what else they could do at that part of the GV track. maybe add some tyre barriers on the wall there but thats about it.

I agree with most of you guys here, the accident was not a result of an unsafe track. Yeah there's accidents every year but it applies to any track - it's a dangerous sport and always will be! Obviously they should revise the track after what happened but it would be a huge disappointment to all F1 fans if it was removed from the calendar.
