ESPNF1:

The FIA will agree to a delay in the introduction of rules forcing Formula One cars to run on electrical power in the pit lane according to a report on Autosport.

It had been intended to bring in the eco-friendly regulation from the start of 2014 but following petitioning from several engine manufacturers the FIA has decided on an indefinite postponement of the change.

Mercedes, Renault and Ferrari expressed concerns about the costs involved of producing engines and there were also safety issues flagged with cars moving at relatively high speed through the pit lane without any accompanying noise to warn pit crews of their approach.

"I have accepted to delay it," FIA president Jean Todt told the magazine. "It has to go through the World Council, but it will be delayed for around three years."
