Am I the only one annoyed that a few months ago they where after mega handouts because they had no money now they have 20mil to build a track and to give to Bernie!!!! how about you give that back to the countries that gave it to you!

If Greece is able to host an F1 race, every other country in the world bar Palestine and Afghanistan have no excuse.

Send the debt collectors round! Reposes Athens!

Seriously, they're supposedly skint yet can afford a GP? Good one(!) I think they have more important things to spend 20mil on.

Are we to believe that Greece is effectively a benefits cheat? :yikes:

a benefits cheat? :yikes:

don't even start me on that soap box

As someone who has had to rely on the benefits system in the past I'll be on my soap box as well!

No doubt there will be a Scottish GP in a few years time if Alex Fish gets his way. Wouldn't surprise me at all if that happened. :banghead:

 Where did you heard that? :yikes:

:hehe: Since I live in Greece the past 15teen years I have to say that the private sector has plenty of money and they actually got richer the last 2 years. But beside the hype of mainstream media stereotypes, the majority of the people are truly suffering slavery in this 3rd world country; they are working hard, they pay huge taxes, and they get very small paychecks that aren't enough to survive. the money other countries send them goes directly to goldman sacks and some greek banks, every 2 months they get even bigger salary cuts, while cost of life increases.
ex. for the last three months electric bill for my house was 280 euros +120 e tax + 30 e public channels + 70 e for maintence + 150 for the unemployed n other charities it ended 650 euros just for the electric bill while the basic paycheck here is around 400 euros. with extremly high unemployment, people agree to work 10+ hours per day just for the basic salary, while they have to save up for the annual tax which is about 2.5 times their monthly paycheck,if they don't pay the bills, they lose their house... I feel real bad for the greek people (the innocent ones). greek politicians + banksters + super rich private companies = mafia
the past year 150 billion euros (private money) were sent from wealthy greeks to Swiss banks
If you are surprised by the F1 track, remember that in 2004 they had the olympic games, that the above mafia (while knowing the economic disaster it would bring) pushed forward to take place. Some private building companies bribed the politicians and made a lot of money. while Greece's debt increased by far. imagine that only the curtains n carpets at the ex - prime ministers office costed about 60.000 euros (tax money), the defence minister while being hugely bribed agreed behalf of greece to buy problematic submarines made in Germany for twice the price... Siemens was also involved with big scandal etc. I could go on for ever...

To my understanding Greece cannot be saved, and that is exactly what those who lend her money want, so the can capitalize the oil, mineral wealth and other resources (my pov)

ps. sorry for the off-topic content, I just wanted to give you a view about whats happening here...

the problem with Greece is that you declare yourself how much money you're earning, let's be honest here, who really would declare everything and pay full tax. i think the statistic is more Porsche 911s in Greece than people earning over 20k.

most greek people are paying full taxes all their lifes, those few who don't, are part of the super rich mafia... Allthough I am not greek and I am paid by the Dutch empacy, I still pay huge taxes to Greece and I find the cost of life to be very high for the low quality of living they offer... but lets be realistic, this is not why this country owes 700 billions. but the reasons I wrote about above.
Anyway I would welcome an F1 circuit here, but I don't think it would have a great future because there is no interest from the locals in motorsports, ( they are more into soccer)

I lived in Cyprus for a few years so I fully understand what you mean about the Mafia etc. The point I was making is that why arn't the people who gave money to Greece questioning what the money is getting spent on. I am sure it would be better spent on helping the common folk.
