F1's summer break probably could not have come at a better time for beleaguered Marussia driver Timo Glock, who appears to have hit a rocky patch in his relationships with both the MR01 and team-mate Charles Pic.

Rumours of unrest began emanating after last weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix, and confirmation of Glock's growing dissatisfaction have now appeared in print, with the German lamenting Marussia's lack of progress and slamming Pic's qualifying etiquette.

Since missing the Grand Prix of Europe with a stomach virus, Glock has finished 18th, 22nd and 21st in Britain, Germany and Hungary. While the results are not unexpected for the minnow Marussia team, the German has come home behind Pic in each of the last two rounds, and told Auto Motor und Sport that he was losing both confidence and patience with the team after a stripdown discovered worn suspension points and problems with the brakes

"I had hoped that we could get closer but, right now, that is not the case - the car is currently undriveable, and we do not know what [the problem] is," Glock sighed, frustrated that Marussia is no closer to the midfield and still battling HRT despite linking up with McLaren over the winter, "I always have oversteer, and am permanently locking the wheels. At the last round, you had to turn five times to get around the corner. I just can not go as fast around a corner as [Pic] does. I've tried it, but it makes no difference. He's got the car where he can place it where he wants it, but I brake, oversteer, countersteer and must re-adjust to turn again. Then I am too fast in the corner, because I have to release the brakes. It's impossible...."

Any hopes of Glock working together with his team-mate in order to improve the situation also appear unlikely after the German criticised the rookie for blocking him at Budapest.

"Maybe he doesn't understand the English on the radio," an angry Glock was quoted as telling Germany's SID news agency, "It's pointless [talking to Pic] - it has happened for the second or third time, so it's up to the team to solve it."

Anyone else heard anything like this? :wavey:

Tbh I think the team should've stuck with D'Ambrosio, but now Pic is taking it to Glock as well. Glock has every right to complain. Hopefully he will be moving back up the grid soon. But this is the second German driver chucking a fit at other drivers lately.... (Can you see my alterior motive? :wavey: )

I feel for Glock stuck in that team, he's proven himself to be worthy of more than this.
#314639
Is he complaining that Pic is getting a better car? Were the problems found in the stripdown on both cars or just his?
#314659
I think Pic is quite sweet. Perhaps its just a misunderstanding? Or maybe he looks sweet but isn't. Surely he wouldn't deliberately hinder his team mate.....hmmm! :scratchchin:

Something is fishy... there is nothing to be gained by Marussia deliberately keeping one of their drivers from performing optimially. So they either don't have money or we're not being told the entire story. A contract clause perhaps? Let's see how this develops.

RC, would you mind terribly if I were to start a "Conspiracy or no conspiracy at Marussia" thread? Pretty please? :hehe:

I'm just saying...

This is highly alarming. Luckily we haven't seen a huge suspension failure causing a major accident in years (i think since Ralf Schumacher at Indy), i would have hoped there were suspension safety checks in place but obviously not.

If Marussia are skimping on replacing worn suspension to save money at the expensive of driver safety, then...:thumbdown::thumbdown:

HRT seems more serious about racing than Marussia. In my opinion, Marussia has a rich guy's hobby vibe to it, in a bad sense.

I agree with you on that. Everyone takes the piss out of Hispania but Marussia are the true joke, Hispania are just classic underdogs.

IMO they're just here to try and hang on long enough until the Moscow GP becomes a reality and they can reap whatever sponsorship $ they can out of that. Until then it's low budget and low drive.

Maybe Marussia have been unable to provide the new parts needed because they where on de Villota chassis?

Wouldn't the worn parts be picked up by scrutineering?

I know what you mean, but the article isn't very clear when it say 'worn' suspension points, and 'problems' with the brakes. Worn could still be legal, and problems could be mechanical, but could equally be poorly or incorrectly fitted in some way.

Either way, it sounds suspiciously like the Zanardi / Williams situation in '99 when he discovered problems with the car when he stripped it down after a horrendous run of form and luck, then immediately after stuck it on the second row at the Italian GP. But his problems were due to an inexperienced race engineer, is it the same for Marussia? Or is it a lack of resources? Either way, I seriously doubt the team is intentionally favouring Pic over Glock - why would they? They'd have nothing to gain!
