Connect gizmo to puter, fire up iTunes, hit restore in iTunes --> it'll reformat your iPod Touch and restore factory settings.

Tried that but it just switches on instead of resetting

Isn't that what you want anyway? Switching on?

You can do a Full Factory Restore with these instructions, it will wipe whatever was on the device and restore it to and out of the box OS.

That is what I have tried but instead of getting the screen in step 4 I get a "ipod disabled connect to itunes"

Does iTunes eve see the iPod? If yo were to simply connect it to the computer do you get the USB acknowledgement tone? You may be looking at an issue with the iPod connecter, and if that's the case then I hope you bought it for a very cheap price. Make sure there is no gunk or schmutz or debris of any kind on the pins and try it again and follow step 6.

Golden Delicious!

I suspect because It's a security feature; it can not be disabled by resetting, that'd kinda defeat the object of the passcode, if stolen it can be simply be disabled by resetting with iTunes.

I would contact the seller on eBay and try to get the passcode, if they don't have it, I wouldn't be surprised to hear that you have stolen goods!

She can be quite pricey and she often takes the mney and runs leaving you apple-less. The crafty old hag! :hehe:
