Nah, i really don't know about that. The car just isn't fast enough (yes, even though it won on merit last time out). Although, a quick read of that article and he doesn't actually say in it anywhere that he thinks he can win the title - standard journalism.

For me the title contenders are Alonso, Hamilton, Raikkonen and Vettel. Hamilton is favourite atm.

I dont think he has much chance of the title at all, there are too many talented and experienced drivers on the grid in fast cars. But full marks for a positive attitude.

70% of the grid fancy a chance at the title now, thanks to Pirelli and their magical tyres.

Is this the same Maldonado that crashed out in Australia fighting for a podium with a couple of laps to go while no one was around him?

I think the competition of cars being close and the tires being supremely important are what's giving us the variety in race winners so far. In all honesty given Barcelona, that race would not have been won by Maldonado and it was a gift. He drove well and unlike Australia he managed the pressure much better this time around. We've seen great drives for a podium position by Perez and Grosjean and Maldonado but those do not a WDC make. It's a season's worth of those drives that do.

He was on to pass Alonso (who was about a car length in front of him) and cracked under the pressure. I think it might've even been the last lap.

I agree with your post. I personally think that it's too early to tell. This season is even closer than 2010; nobody really knows for absolute certainty who's stronger than the other.

I read a similar article immediately after the Spanish GP and dismissed it straight away, one win doesn't make a season, I'm ecstatic to see Williams on the top step again but I don't believe that the Williams car is fast enough to consistently score podiums/wins during the season, but I am hoping for a few more podiums and a win in the coming 15 races.

It's great to see another young Turk who dares to challenge the established guys

But I can't see the Williams providing the equipment quite yet and Maldo still has to beat Hamilton Vettel et al over the season

Despite the lottery conditions and seemingly free for all, it's still the same guys at the head of the table

But in the next few years and despite looking like a thug from B movie hopefully the Williams/Pastor combo could be a real threat

I thought that was due to a puncture, although it didn't look like it at the time.

Impressive thuggery indeed, however Pastor looks like he just crunched a bottle in his mouth for fun, and that's on good days LOL
