Headlines in Great Britain have been dominated by this horrific 34-vehicle pile-up on the M5 motorway, which has so far claimed at least 7 lives. The cause of the crash is not clear but the road was wet and foggy in patches. A nearby fireworks display has also been mentioned as a possible contributing factor. Earlier reports said more than 10 were feared dead and officers said some bodies may not yet have been recovered from the charred vehicles.

Terrible accident. I was driving along a different motorway in the hours leading up to this crash, and the driving conditions were atrocious, what with the heavy rain and fog. I feel very fortunate to have had a safe journey, after seeing this.

Yeah, terrible news. I can't actually think i can remember i bigger pileup in my lifetime (or recently)... RIP to those killed. I heard 4 of them were in one single car. Hopefully no more bodies are found.

Awful! Huge fireball and many vehicles completelly burnt out. Doesnt bare thinking about! Worst for twenty years. Hope you're right about no more fatalities, this mornings paper said it could rise. :( They think a nearby firework display may have contributed to the fog.

Those things are so dangerous!

There were 2 artics in with deliveries on Friday night at work, both with hired tractor units but company trailers. Whilst we were guiding the 2nd artic in I noticed the reversing lights were not working on the trailer so mentioned it to the driver. Turns out the tractor unit and the trailer are not compatible. For the same reason the ABS on the 1st artic's trailer didn't work! Makes you wonder  .

I can't help to think how much worse it was with those 3 semi-trucks.

Those things are so dangerous!

There were more than 3 involved. I think about six? A couple completely burnt out.
