New track is here!I really wonder it,and the attendance, though i dont think India deserves it at all because their problems started in lately 2010 and there is still problems now.But its time for 2nd place battle :drink:

I suspect that Pirelli might need some rally dirt tyres for this race... Formula 1 Rally, that'd separate the men from the boys!

Having driven this track in F1 2011, I think it has the potential for some interesting racing. It has a few long straights that are ideal for overtaking by cars with high top speed, but there's also a couple of straights after fast corners, which might give an opportunity for cars with higher down force. My race was certainly interesting :P

I liked the initial look of the track configuration. But it will be something to watch! I especially like the weird downhill straight and then a sudden uphill feature again, this track has a lot of gradient! Always helps to make it a better track...look at Brazil, Spa, A1 Ring!

I agree the gradient changes especially toward the end of the 2nd sector and the beginning of the third sector... the high speed uphills will put an extra stress on engines. Wonder if this will be the first circuit we'll see one blow this year.

Looking forward to the race here, it's always exciting visiting a new venue. :D

I just hope the crowds turn up! That's the main problem with these races in Asia... empty grandstands! :banghead:

You know who to blame, that greedy little poo Ecclestone, i cant actually believe how greedy he is, its a total understatment.

The man is well worth a billion (i think) and he still wants masses of money, his daughters daughters daughters daughters are secure and he still rips off everyone, hes done a great deal for the sport but i think the senile old coot has single handedly helped ruin it in recent years.

Most of the money from hosting fees go to CVC to recoup the millions spent on purchasing the commercial rights from Ecclestone... but yes; the extortionate fees have a knock on effect as ticket prices have to be higher to recoup the cost of hosting the race, and Asia isn't the biggest market for motorsport except Japan but governments in the east are willing to subsidise the events!

MrE is not the only one that makes huge amounts from F1. There are numerous investors and the teams that help to drive the prices up. However, I would put the blame at the people who want the races not the ones who offer it. The Indian Government want an F1 race and they've got one. If it is a poorly attended flop that's their fault. They should have done their homework first to make sure that there is a demand for the race and make sure that enough people will be able to afford tickets to make it a worthwhile venture. Let's face it, if we were all in the unique position to sell F1 for ridiculous amounts of money we'd all do the same. Anyone who says they wouldn't is a liar in my book. Who the hell doesn't want to be a multi-billionaire and live the good life with nothing to worry about what-so-ever?

Get a local driver, team or engine manufacturer on the grid and the interest will be there.
