Last weekend we yet again saw problems with fueling rigs, Massa was sprayed with fuel, while Renault struggled to fill their cars sufficiently. Given the grief these things have caused teams over the years, should these be redesigned?

These rigs regularly spray pit crews and cars with fuel, and their failure can drop both team cars to the back of the field during a race, surely something must be done!

Get rid of refuelling, top them up to last the race and so that drivers will have to drive economically on some laps.

certom beat me to the punch: I suggest a two-men manual pump - let's have some pitcrew competition going here, the faster they pump, the sooner the driver is out on track again. That'll also take care of the beerguts with some of the mechanics

That's what they do in NASCAR along with having four men on one side to change the tyres then the same men going round the other side.

Id like to see each team have a fuel car they send out to refuel cars as they are racing. Kinda like mid-air refueling but little more risky.

Maybe instead of a fuel car they can steal each other's fuel on the track.

ROFL, you guys crack me up!:lol:

I think the FIA should design rules which lead to the development of highly efficient engines, making F1 the target of greenies' affection, rather than frustration.

Sounds like some sci fi movie about a racing/blood type hybrid sport in the future when everybody is a lot more apt to kill each other!

I think that's what Gerhard Berger once thought according to this Jim Bamber cartoon. :)

As F1 stands at the moment the only racing we see is connected with the refuelling rigs and until this changes there is nothing that can be done about the refuelling as it provides the only form of entertainment and uncertainty in a race. I hate it as much as the next man. All I watch for is to see "racing" not a procession that has half decent highlights come pit time. The F1 season so far has been a joke, we have seen Hamilton come in and perform the only decent racing. OK some midfielders add to the action but this is because there are big performance differences between there cars. At the front of the grid it is only cats whiskers that separate pace.
F1 needs a real boost. The likes of which can only be found by some restriction on aerodynamics that push clean air from the car and allow closer racing to happen. Its only when we see something like this that would allow us to remove the need for refuelling action. Come on Bernie get the rules changed and lets get back to real back to basics racing. We all want it...

While we are at get rid of those blue flags.... We want racing. Action could be had by removing this alone. Can you imagine that would mean top runners will have to race there way through the back markers. What unpredictability would that bring.

In waiting......

If you've ever read Autosport Magazine you'll have seen plenty of Jim Bamber's cartoons in them. :)
