New thread to celebrate the the first day of summer, you know when entertainment is cheap, you can go for a swim or a walk or a bike ride for free. There are things in life that only people with more money than sense would buy... PT Barnum was so right! :P

Hopefully we can add ridiculously priced and utterly unnecessary items to this thread as we run into them, I'll start with my favorite.

Meet the AK-DL1 a $499Ethernet cable

Yes, it does come with a manual. :yikes:

Denon's 1.5 meter (59 in.) proprietary ultra premium Denon Link cable was designed for the audio enthusiast. Made from high purity copper wire and high performance connection parts, the AK-DL1 will bring out all the nuances in digital audio reproduction from any of our Denon DVD players with the Denon Link feature connected to a Denon Link enabled Denon A/V receiver. The AK-DL1 employs high level tin-bearing alloy shielding not typically available in commercial cabling, to eliminate data loss caused by noise. Additionally, signal directional markings are provided for optimum signal transfer. Attention to detail when building this cable was used by employing high quality insulation and woven jacketing to reduce vibration and to add durability. Rounded plug levers help prevent breakage.

My most recent item...

a mere $100,000

"The slicers are a mere 80 atoms thick on their cutting edge — about 1/10,000th the width of a hair — and substantially sharper than their commercial cousins. Plus, they'll stay sharp for about a year, and the manufacturer Bright Light Ventures promises complimentary resharpening for a decade. The blades are housed in a medical-grade stainless steel cartridge, and the cartridge is held in place by 16 neodymium magnets. The handle is made of 99.9% pure iridium, so you can drop it into hot lava and it won't melt. Bright Light Founder Hayden Hamilton plans to introduce an entry-level model that costs about the same as a compact car."

Another wonderful product addition to my ongoing series.
According to a report, Tag Heuer is entering the smartphone category to its products lineup.
In addition, a popular and leading technology and gadgets news blog has this saucy report on the upcoming Tag Heuer phone:
"Buzz has it that Tag Heuer Racer is going to be an Android-classified smartphone and the device is going to be shaped like a car.
Additionally, Tag Heuer Racer is rumored to have a case made of carbon fiber and titanium, a 3D interface, a high-speed processor, and an Android OS. The price of Tag Heuer Racer phone is expected to be around $3,680.00".

You wouldn't believe it, the number of times I've been having a shave next to a volcano and I drop my razor and the handle gets duck.

I don't get whats so good about that phone?

The advertizement. Which I'm sure has been factored into the cost....

Seriously, how stupid are people nowadays? The Apple company has made sheeps of all of us (And I mean those buyers who upgrade everytime a new version is out) not to mention companies like TH making a phone which might not even match a regular Samsung Galaxy SII and price it around 8 times more.

Unless their target market are people who simply don't know where to burn their money...but if so, this price is still not impressive enough. Vertu, on the other hand has their target markets set. :hehe:

Just in time for Christmas, another item for my more money than sense collection. A mere $125,000.

The Porsche 917 Le Mans Raceway

That's not much more than a razor.

And that's how you learn you've got yourself a killer deal. Go for it WB! :hehe:
