I was only 12, I didn't even realize his band existed until mid 1995, but Kurt Cobain's music to this day still moves me and is by far the greatest in my mind when it comes to music. I know a lot of people will see this day as "17 years ago, some junkie didn't want to be a parent anymore blah blah" but those who know, those who remember, those who grew up through the toughest years of childhood will always remember what he did for music.

Just wanted to remember a great influence on music and life style.

Killem I like Nirvana a lot, also I am not sure if that is Kurt in your avatar or Jax Teller from Sons of Anarchy.

I have probably watched nearly every bit of media I could get my hands on. It surprisingly is difficult. 1991: The Year Punk Broke is a fantastic documentary.

Naw man, that is one thing I hated about Kurt. There are numerous live showings of him purposely butchering smells like teen spirit. And I get it, he was mad the it went main stream and the same people who probably picked on him in high school started to jam to his music. No one looked into the meaning of it, just what the record charts were saying.

However, there were lots of people who did love his music and for those fans, he did rob a little something from them every time he did that sort of thing.

I personally love Lounge Act and Serve the Servants.

The only real solice out of all of this is, Kurt got exactly what he claimed to want.... for himself to be forgotten. I don't think you will see any long drawn out specials on him on CNN or something on history channel. You barely see any existence of Nirvana in today's media. Despite when they were touring they would generate the intensity from fans not seen since the Beatles.

I should rephrase, Beatlemania. Watch those old films of teenyboppers going absolutely insane. That's the kind of thing I'm talking about. Zepplin while undeniably amazing, never got that kind of response. They had the millions and millions of fans and packed arena's that's a given. Kurt was the last great rock star. It'll be along time before we see that again I am afraid.

We wont see that again, and whilst im fully in favour of the phrase "each to their own" the music today is just to such a poor standard.

Classic Rock music has officially died, it helps when you have the surrounding attitudes and lifestyle to do it, but nowdays people are more interested in how many friends theyve got on facebook then forming a band or such. Im like an outcast for playing Guitar!

I wouldn't say it has died, completely. It is a lot like radioactive material, the strongest parts of it might be dead but until it reaches half-life we'll still see it around. John Mayer is probably the last person I've really seen that has true talent. He reminds me A LOT like eric clapton for some reason. He's got real passion for his music.

I do agree on today's music though, it is unbearable for the most part. I was really hoping Daughtry when I first saw him on american idol was something to rock the waves again but he was a let down.
