......Where do we start!? :yikes:

The simple answer is yes; we just have to look as far as last season with Alonso and Massa; that was clear favouritism! Down the years there has been favouritism in teams; clear #1 and #2 drivers, which will probably be making a comeback in the next few years as team orders are now allowed again!

i think it's got nothing to do with team orders.
starting by salaries, they dont all have the same salary, so that's the first sign.... and it goes all the way to the very same reasons people are fans of X or Y driver and not necessarily Z.

I don't think any team actually goes in with the I personally like this guy more so we will give him updates. But teams I feel take results very seriously and if you are throwing the car around the track with impressive results they will focus on you.

Well, they have to base the car chassis around one driver's body, as a good place to start! :p

Who gets first go in pre-season testing, whose input they listen to most when they're trying to design/modify the car, whose driving style they want the car to accommodate more, who gets the best engineers/pit crew - and that's not even mentioning taking parts off one person's car to give to another

Yes it does, regardless of whether a team says otherwise or not. ALL teams claim it doesn't happen in their team to varying extents but that is BS with evidence to back it up.

not really, they base the seat around the driver's body, but the chassis i'm sure are one size fits all.... except Montoya, maybe he needed some extra space

the rest i think they decide as the season goes on.... maybe in the case of Renault they were obviously all behind Kubica, but as it gets closer between drivers and less straight forward to decide, i'm sure they most go into the season with an open mind......

You'd be surprised. Last year's McLaren chassis wasn't quite big enough for Jenson, who is one of the tallest drivers if not the actual tallest one on the grid. This, of course, because of how late he joined the team.

Justin Wilson had similar problems at least once back in the day.

I’m curious to see what people’s thoughts are on this.

Different access to parts and technology? Or is it due to the customisations for each driver? Or is it simply down to driver ability?

I think youve made a really clever point, although you might not of explained it as well as you could.

Is making your chances of winning as big as possible the same as favouring a driver? Fernando moving voer in germany? whats to say that isnt the team favouring their chances of winning a title, rather then favouring a driver.

So what would a team do if one driver consistently gave better results but the other driver consistently gave better feedback? Who woud they then design the car around??
